Deborah J. Sehl

Deborah Jeanne Sehl, beloved daughter of Gertrude B. Sehl and the late Francis Sehl, born December 11, 1952, passed away peacefully at her home in Rochester on July 26, 2014 after a lengthy illness.

Deb graduated from Lourdes High School in Rochester, and Fontbonne College in St. Louis, MO.

Deb was a high school teacher and taught business at Woodbridge High School (Woodbridge, VA) for over 25 years.  She was very proud of the impact she had on her students, and was an avid fan and loyal supporter of her students’ sports teams.

She will be missed by her mother, Beatrice; loving siblings; Ed (Jeri) Sehl, Sue (Carl) Rowold, Cheri (Larry) Estes, Cindy (Jim) Schmit, Pam (Barry) Zins, John (Donna) Sehl, Sheila (Rick) Hutchison, Mike (Jenny) Sehl, Marty (Theresa) Sehl, Jim (Wendy) Sehl, Maureen (Fred) Owusu, and Shaun Sehl; 22 nieces and nephews; and 13 grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Francis and one sister, Barb and infant brother, Anthony Joseph.

Deb loved cats, especially her two Persians, Vegas and Reno (who lived to be 22).

With a December birthday, Deb loved Christmas, and collected snowmen figurines and Snow Village houses. Her happiest times were spent visiting with her family during the holidays, and other family occasions.

A funeral Mass will be at 11:00AM, Thursday, July 31, 2014 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with the Rev. David Byrne officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00PM – 8:00PM Wednesday, July 30, 2014, River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Paws and Claws.

On-line condolences are welcome at www.mackenfuneralhome.com.

Dear Aunt Bea and all:  please know that you and Deb are in our thoughts and prayers.  Deb had a tough row to hoe these past few years, but it was obvious when we had the chance to see her this summer that she had handled it with dignity and grace.  We are so glad we had that chance to see her one last time and that she had the chance to get together with y'all.

With deepest condolences,

John & Susan

Deb and I were good friends as we worked together at Woodbridge High School during the 90s.  I have great memories of times we spent on FBLA and other school activities.

I will miss her but I treasure our friendship.  Please accept my condolences for your loss.

Although I did not know Deborah, I know her brother, Jim.  I am so very sorry for your loss.  I know that your family is close and how hard this must be, as I too have lost loved ones to cancer.  From personal experience, I think the best pieces of advice I received then were these : Get and give lots of hugs, because those can speak to the heart in ways that words can't.  Honor your loved one by sharing all the love you have for her with others.  I wish you much comfort and the peace of good memories.

Jim and Marty, and your siblings,

Sorry to hear of the passing of your sister Deborah.  We hope that your family enjoys sharing together remembrances of her life.  Please accept our heartfelt condolences.

Blessings,

James and Jeanne Vanderwaal

Dear Bea and all,

The Canney's send our love and condolences to you. We had many wonderful times with Deb. She was a very special cousin for us. We were blessed to have her in our lives. All of you are in hearts and prayers.

Love,

Jane
