Donna L. Bloom
Donna Louise Bloom, aged 76, passed away peacefully at her home in Rochester, MN on April 8, 2026. Born on May 27, 1949 in Everett, WA, Donna spent her early years surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Ocean and the natural wonders of Washington state. She lived in Washington for 43 years.
Donna’s professional life in Washington included meaningful service as a caseworker for the Department of Social and Health Services, where she helped many individuals and families. She also worked as an insurance agent for Mass Mutual, demonstrating her commitment to assisting others.
In 1992, Donna’s journey led her to Rochester, MN, following a serendipitous meeting with Jo Asleson, who was visiting Washington. In Minnesota, Donna continued her varied career, working for RS Transport and becoming affectionately known as the ”Orkin Lady” while working tor Orkin Pest Control. Her favorite part of the job was visiting all of the fur babies. And there were many. She retired in 2008 due to a job-related injury.
Donna’s legacy is one of compassion, loyalty, and a deep bond with the natural world, the animals she cherished and family. She is now reunited with Millie, Dickens, Scooter, Anna, Mikki, Gage, Asti, and Opie, while Noah, her 17 year old autistic cocker spaniel who at 17 years old and is still alive and will one day in the future be with his Mommy again.
Donna will be remembered for her unwavering love for family, her kindness to all creatures, and her gentle spirit. Her impact on those around her will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and in the countless lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred (Dolly) Arkell, her father, Donald E Bloom and her grandparents, David and Eva Hammer. She is survived by Jo Asleson, best friend and soulmate; her sister, Lorolie Dykeman of Everett, WA, her brother, Rick Pryor (Maria) of Sacramento, CA, a half-sister Linda Reiten (Terry) of Redmond WA and her stepmother Wilma Bloom of Monroe, WA
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at The River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with luncheon to follow. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service. A private family burial will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Root Prairie Lutheran Cemetery in Fountain, MN.
The family requests that memorials be designated to Camp Companion – Rochester, or Underdog Rescue – Twin Cities.
