Walter Michael (“Mike”) Brown – Rochester, MN and Springfield, SC
Walter Michael (“Mike”) Brown, 63, of Rochester, MN, was suddenly called home to God on June 17, 2025.
Mike was born on December 21, 1961, to the late Anne Elizabeth Counts Brown and Walter Frank Brown in Springfield, SC. Mike was raised in Springfield, SC. Mike was an active youth and adult member of Springfield Baptist Church, which played a significant role in shaping his values, community involvement, and spiritual life. The church was a cornerstone of his upbringing and continued to be a source of inspiration throughout his life.
In 2008, Mike relocated to Rochester, MN, to be close to family and gain access to world-class health care at the Mayo Clinic. In Rochester Mike became a member of Autumn Ridge Church where he faithfully and joyfully assisted with the children’s ministry.
Mike was an industrious worker throughout his life and was employed by ROTRON, Hughes Aircraft Columbia Fluid Systems Technologies, and Ability Building Community (ABC) of Southeastern Minnesota.
Mike loved the Lord, his church, his family, friends, and his work.
Mike is survived by his sister, Julie Brown (William) Lower of Rochester; nephew Matthew (Michelle) Lower of Madison, WI; and nephew Mark Lower of Wilmington, DE.
Mike is predeceased by his parents Walter and Anne Counts Brown; maternal grandparents Olin and Blanche Counts; and paternal grandparents Frank and Gertrude Brown.
A Celebration of Life honoring Mike will be held at the Timothy Chapel at Autumn Ridge Church on Monday, July 7 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at the Springfield (SC) Cemetery on Tuesday, August 19 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Autumn Ridge Church, 3611 Salem Road SW, Rochester, MN 55902; or Springfield Baptist Church, 3406 Surrey Race Road, Springfield, SC 29146.

I was so sorry to hear about Mike’s passing. We became friends at Heritage Hall Academy way back then and remained friends to this day. We would always laugh about the weather. Cold where he was and hot here in the South. My sincere condolences to his family. I will truly miss him.
