Vincent M. Hollaren DDS
Vincent Monroe Hollaren, 83 of Rochester, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026 at Rochester Methodist Hospital with his wife by his side.
Vince was born on August 2, 1942 in Worthington, MN to Vincent and Hazel (Whipkey) Hollaren. He graduated from Worthington High School in 1960. He then attended the University of Minnesota Dental School where he graduated Doctorate of Dental Surgery, 1966. Immediately following graduation he enlisted in the US Army, first serving in Georgia, and later deployed serving as Army Dentist during the Vietnam War. Following honorable discharge, he came to Rochester where he began working locally for Dentists Dr. Rossi and Dr. Sahs. On October 4, 1969 he married Dorothy “Dee” Yetman at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hastings, Nebraska. The couple made Rochester their permanent home. In June of 1971, he and three colleagues created the Valhalla Dentistry Building, where Vince operated his own private dental practice. He practiced dentistry in this location until his retirement in 2010. Vince was involved in the local Rochester community, at one time was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, was President of the PTA at Rochester Jefferson School, and was proud to be on the Review Board for Northwest Dental Journal. He also volunteered his time as a dental consultant at local nursing homes. Vince was a hard working businessman who was proud to know his community. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in northwestern Wisconsin, water skiing and golfing. During his retirement, he volunteered with Dental Hygiene students at Rochester Vo-Tech College. He especially enjoyed playing his guitar and taking long walks with his dogs.
He is survived by his wife Dee of Rochester, his children Jenny Hollaren of Rochester, Mike Hollaren of Rochester, and Bart (Cydne) Hollaren of Minneapolis.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Steve “Skip” Hollaren.
The Memorial Mass for Vince will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 10:30AM at Co-Cathedral of St. John The Evangelist in Rochester. Visitation will be held starting one hour prior to the Mass at the church. A reception will immediately follow. A private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rochester.
Memorials are preferred to the new MN State Veteran’s Home at Preston, MN.

Condolences
The family of Vincent M. Hollaren DDS has received the following condolences.
Vince was a surrogate grandparent to our kids...attending countless science fairs, swim meets, and dance recitals. I'm so grateful for his presence in their lives (and mine). My deepest sympathies to his entire family, and especially to his beautiful and devoted wife, Dee.
Carrie
Dr. Hollaren was an absolute gem! A great man who lived his calling and purpose each day. He was our dentist for many years, and we are grateful for his care. Our dental chair conversations always started by sharing the antics of our Airedale Terriers. We felt his passion for the breed and his devotion to his Airedale. We will never forget his authenticity or his peaceful ease.
Wishing you peace and comfort in these difficult days.

My condolences go out to Dee and the rest of Vince's family. I sure will miss chatting about local sports and the newspaper clippings he would bring in for me to read. He was a wonderful man! I'm so glad to have known Vince for the little time that I did.
Sending my heartfelt condolences to the Hollaren family on the passing of Vince, a loving father and husband. His daughter, Jenny, is one of my best friends and I had the pleasure of knowing Vince for over 30 years. I visited every couple of years and enjoyed spending time with Vince, Dee and Jenny at their family cabin in Wisconsin. I will miss his kindness and sense of humor. Thinking of the Hollaren family and sending love, thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Mere words are not sufficient to convey my sincere sympathy to Dee and family at this difficult time..
Dr. Vince was a professional in dentistry and if you look up "gentleman" in Webster's Dictionary his picture should be there!
May he Rest in Peace, and may Eternal Light shine upon him.
May the Holy Spirit grant you comfort, Dee and family.
Simply put, Dr. Hollaren was THE BEST! He made going to the dentist something I looked forward to. His dentistry skills were first rate, his chair side manner a role model for all in the profession, his community service much appreciated and Vince was one of the nicest men I ever met. RCTC's Dental Hygiene students benefited greatly from his guidance.
Keeping Dee and family members in my thoughts and prayers. In deepest sympathy.
Dr. Hollaren was the kindest, friendliest dentist I’ve gone to in my life. He took away the scariness of seeing a dentist. He was a great man. May he rest in peace.
A true gentle spirit. May you his family be held in compassion as you navigate this sorrow.
Vince was a great friend and mentor
Even though I only had the pleasure of knowing him for a years
He taught me so much about the game of golf and life
Miss you so
Thank you Dear friend

We are so very sorry to hear of the passing of Dr Hollaren. His kindness and gentle manner always made you feel welcome and secure in his care. Our heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends and colleagues who had the honor to work beside him!
My syympathy to his family. He was the first and only dentist my kids had at first. I go there now and have Dr. Olson and visit with Julie who is still there.
While I never got the pleasure of meeting Vince. I am good friends with his son Mike. Mike has always spoke very highly of his father.
