Timothy Robert O’Neil

It is with profound sadness that the world said goodbye to Timothy Robert O’Neil our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend on April 3, 2025 at the age of 73. He peacefully passed in his home surrounded by family and loved ones.

Tim was born on August 14, 1951 in Baudette, MN to Reginald and Elizabeth “Dell” O’Neil. He was partnered with his first wife whom he had his two loving sons Willie and Mike O’Neil. Later meeting his soulmate and love of his life, Lynelle Webb-O’Neil, whom he married on March 17, 2005. He was a devoted husband to Lynelle, loving father to Willie and Mike O’Neil, and a loving bonus father to Meagan, Collin and Mackenzie (Hodgman) Webb.

Tim will be missed for his twinkling Irish eyes that brought a light into each room with him. His iconic push broom mustache, laughter, and warm embraces will be some of the fondest memories that we all hold close to our hearts. Tim was seen as a fighter and a warrior to many in his life as he faced battles with MS, which he persevered through and esophageal cancer to which he succumbed.

Tim spent 36 dedicated years working for People’s Co-op as a lineman, which he retired from in 2012. The accomplishments in life that brought Tim great pride were his years playing amateur hockey for Canada, painting bridges across the Midwest, raising his boys,  coaching youth hockey and baseball, the many trips he spent hunting and fishing with his friends and family, and the time spent with his 12 beautiful grandchildren.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Reggie and Dell O’Neil and his brother Tom. He is survived by his brother Jerry (Lynn) O’Neil, wife Lynelle, sons Willie (Katie) O’Neil, Mike (Heather) O’Neil, Meagan (Tyler) Webb, Collin (Danielle) Webb, Mackenzie (Nick) Hodgman and his 12 wonderful grandchildren who he loved with all his heart.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the River Park Reception Hall at Macken Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that donations be made in the form of gift cards, which will be used to plant trees in Tim’s honor.

It won’t be the same fishing up here in Alaska without my great friend. The countless hours on the ocean waiting for that big halibut. Talking for hours on end about life, families and of course our spouses. Tim was such a fighter, I wish I had half of the courage he showed taking on everything the good lord threw at him. The older we get good friends are to come by, and great friends like Tim are hard to lose. I know Tim is in a better place and needed to move on, but it still hurts to see him leave us all. It makes my heart at ease knowing Tim is finally at peace.
Lynelle, Cheryl and I send our most sincere thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
We trully cherished the time with Tim, he will never be forgotten.

I am so sorry for your loss. Sending condolences to the entire O’Neil and Webb families. 🩷💐

We will miss our 'end of the driveway' chats. Many a snow day shoveling and Tim would see us from up the road and drive down on the 4-wheeler with Oney on the back. Or summer days driving off in his white truck, with Oney by his side. He would stop and chat, sometimes for an hour at the end of the driveway, with the truck running. But especially we will miss our 'patio talks,' Tim and Lynelle's place or our place, with a glass of wine and a beer. We solved many a world problems on the patio...well, maybe just complained a little. Tim's robust laugh, which was his signature, was part of every conversation. I know Lynelle's beautiful patio was a place of solace for him. It is where Oney journeyed to his final resting place. It is fitting that the cardinals gathered there to take him to his final garden where Oney is waiting. Tim, we had so much more to talk about. Lynelle and family, our thoughts, prayers and hugs are with you all.
