Terry R. Fischer

Heaven has a new angel Terry Roger Fischer passed away December 26, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Terry was born July 7, 1948 to Doreen and Roger Fischer in Washington D.C.  Both parents were serving our country at the time.

He moved back to Rochester which was Doreen’s hometown.  His grandparents Otto and Hazel Haling raised Terry in his teenage years.  They were a loving and strong influence in his life.

Terry graduated from John Marshall High School in 1966.  He attended Rochester Junior College in Pre-business from 1966-1968.  He volunteered June 23, 1969 for the regular army where he was a helicopter mechanic serving in Korea patrolling the DMZ.  Upon leaving the Army Terry attended Rochester Vocational Technical College from 1972-1974 for tool and model manufacturing.  Terry was hired at IBM on June 11, 1973 where he worked until he left due to a medical disability in January of 2009.

He married Pamela Jean Stanley on December 23, 1976 in Boca Raton, Florida.  They had two beautiful daughters Kimberly Ann Fischer of Rochester and Kariann Lee (Steve) Wedeking of Byron.  He is also survived by a sister Janet  (Mike) Kothenbeutel of Rochester; many wonderful nieces and nephews, brothers  and sisters-in-laws, mother-in-law.  He was preceded in death by both parents Roger and Doreen and grandparents Otto and Hazel Haling.

Terry enjoyed anything pertaining to the outdoors; camping, hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling,   Jet skiing, and he especially enjoyed being with his family.

Happy fishing  in heaven.

A memorial service will be at 7:00pm Saturday, December 29, 2012 at River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Coggins officiating.

The family would prefer memorials to Seasons Hospice, 1696 Greenview Dr. SW Rochester, MN. 55902

Pam and family

We are so sorry for your loss.(Which is actually Terrys gain, he's at a better place)

We will someday meet with Terry again, but for now we will have our memories of him.

Be strong, and keep him in your heart.

 Tom and Julie Ellis

To the Fischer family,

Dan and I are so sorry to hear about Terry.  Your friend Chuck Stanley really expressed our feelings as well---Terry was a good man, loyal to his friends, and lived life with a passion.  He was a true example of strong will and the fight to never give up.

We couldn't have had better neighbors in you and we were privileged to have known Terry for the time we did.  I'll never forget how hard he'd laugh when I taught Penny to 'high five' and then 'low five'.  They were such a pair during the summers, and it was always so sweet to see you taking her to the dog park.

We will miss him so much and can't even imagine how you must be feeling now.  Pam, please know that if you need anything, we are right here and we can help you, support you, with whatever you need.  Please never hesitate to ask.

Our prayers are with you and we are so terribly sorry for your loss.  We send our love to you and deepest sympathies.

Pam and Family  I am so sorry for the loss of your father and husband.Terry was such a great man.I had known Terry since childhood.I got to see Terry again and met you (Pam) while working at IBM.He was always so pleasant with a smile on his face.He will be greatly missed. All my prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Sincerely,Cindy Pfaff Danewick

Pam, Kim and Kari & Steve

We send you all our love and hugs and continue to lift you all up in prayers for comfort, healing and grace.  Terry's battle was fought not only by him, but by each of you as well!  He was more than blessed to have each of you in his life and in his corner!

He is at Peace and rest now and probably raising all kinds of "Cain" in Heaven!  He lived a blessed life and his legacy will go forward in and through each of you.

God Bless you all and bring you comfort and strength and feel the warmth of love as you are surrounded by friends and family.

Love, Sal, Gregg, Matt and Mike

Terry fought his life challenging illness as he courageously did all things in life. Terry was a strong individual, loved his family and toys, remained loyal to his friends. Terry's last 4 years demonstrated how strong willed he was and I came to truly appreciate his  late life caregivers who are dedicated to their mission, sensitive and caring. Family thanks to the Mayo and Season Hospice staffs who provided Terry a dignified and restful final days. RIP Terry, your family and friends celebrate our lives we shared with you.
