Sherilyn D. Moen

A celebration of life for Sherilyn Dee (Sheri) Moen will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Bethel Lutheran Church with Pastor Norman Wahl officiating. Visitation (no reviewal) will be an hour prior to the service.

Sherilyn Dee Krsnak was born July 13, 1953, in Ada, Minnesota, to Ralph and Ruth Krsnak. She graduated from Gary high school in 1971 and attended college at NDSU.

Sheri married the love of her life, David (Dave) Moen, on August 26, 1972. Together, they have three sons and a daughter. Sheri stayed home to raise her children until 1992, when their youngest was in school at Rochester Central Lutheran School (RCLS). She began working as a cook in the RCLS kitchen, later becoming the Food Service Director, and was instrumental in designing the school’s new kitchen. What started as a part-time job turned into a lifelong passion and careerin the school nutrition industry.

In 2001, she left RCLS to work for food management company Taher, Inc., as Food Service Director for the Kasson-Mantorville public schools. After a year and a half, she was recruited to be the Food and Nutrition Director for the Dover-Eyota public schools. During her time in Dover-Eyota, she spearheaded the founding of the Southeast Minnesota United Purchasing Coop and modernized the entire food service operation.

In April 2007, Sheri took the position of Nutrition Services Director at the Cambridge-Isanti public schools, living at the cabin she and David purchased on Lake Pokegama west of Pine City.At the end of the 2010-2011 school year, Sheri resigned from Cambridge and started ARTI Solutions, LLC, with her good friend Lonnie Voll, providing consulting services to school district administration and food service departments.

From 2008-2010, Sheri was elected and served as Member Services Chair for the Minnesota School Nutrition Association, and Treasurer for the School Nutrition Directors of Minnesota.

Sheri was passionate about life, and loved entertaining, traveling, reading, cooking, flower gardening, boating, doing house projects and spending time with family. There was no sacrifice she considered too great to make for the people she loved.

With the help of Seasons Hospice, Sheri was able to remain at home until Jesus called her to be with Himself on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 12:12 a.m.following a two-and-a-half-year battle against ovarian cancer. In the weeks and months leading up to her passing, Sheri increasingly relied on her faith in the good news of Jesus Christ: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Dave, and her four children, their spouses, and four grandchildren: Jeremy (Jennifer, Jensen, Jackson) Moen of Evansville, Indiana; Brian (Jill Heinke) Moen of Oakland, California; Kathy (Travis, Emma, Annabelle) Kluthe of Brainerd, Minnesota; and Chris (Megan) Moen of St. Paul, Minnesota. Other survivors include her sister Joan Sjolie and her brothers Don (Marilyn), Roger (Sharyn), and Kim (Jayme). She was preceded in death by her mother in 1996 and her father in 2005.
Memorials preferred to Seasons Hospice or Bethel Lutheran Church. If flowers are gifted, please send to Bethel.

Dear David and family,

i am so sorry to hear about Sheri. My heartfelt sympathy for you all.

I graduated with Sheri.  We were cheerleaders together, and played side by side in the band, so I know what a dear lady she was.

I am happy she is no longer suffering, but it is always so hard on the ones left behind.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, as you celebrate her life on Wednesday, and continue her great legacy in the days and years ahead.
