Sally Volner

Sally Volner, age 68 of Oronoco, MN, born Sally Helen Cramer in Ilion, NY (1953) passed away on January 19, 2022, after a long battle with ALS. She was surrounded by her loving husband and sons who were her compassionate care providers that supported her in her final journey at Seasons Hospice.

Sally was the oldest of 4 children born to Stuart and Leona (Jarvis) Cramer.  The family moved around the upper East Coast, finally settling in Wayland, Massachusetts where Sally graduated from Wayland High School in 1971.  It was there that she met Gregg in 1973, the day he arrived in town from Brooklyn Center, MN. Shortly after, in 1974, he swept her away to Minneapolis, MN. Gregg and Sally were married on April 1st, 1976 and welcomed sons Jesse in 1977, and Dustin in 1979.  After moving to Rochester, MN in 1985, Sally enjoyed a successful career at Mayo Clinic and she and Gregg were able to fulfill their dreams of purchasing a northern Minnesota lake home in the early 90’s.  It would become a cherished retreat where family and friends could spend their summers together. After retirement, they spent most of their time up north among a community of friends around the lake.

When she wasn’t out enjoying nature or boat rides, she was very devoted to her many talents, especially stained glass art, making jewelry, and interior design. In her retirement years, no day was complete without her favorite TV shows. She loved watching “The Bold and the Beautiful”, and always took pride in being the first in the room to solve puzzles on “Wheel of Fortune”. Sally has been described by those most dear to her as loyal, giving, and having a huge heart. She always put her loved ones ahead of herself.  She was incredibly determined and overcame any obstacles life threw her way.  She will always be remembered as unapologetically herself.

Sally will be greatly missed and is survived by her loving husband Greggory of Oronoco, MN. Sons Jesse of Rochester, MN and Dustin of Oronoco, MN.  Brothers Stuart Cramer of Marcell, MN, Robert Cramer of Rochester, MN and James Cramer of Maple Grove, MN.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

The family will have a private gathering to celebrate her life.

Memorials are preferred to Seasons Hospice of Rochester, MN, and/or the ALS Foundation.
