Paul R. Tieskoetter
On November 20, 2024, heaven gained a kind, loving, generous man. Paul Richard Tieskoetter (65) passed away after a long and courageous fight against cancer.
He was born December 13, 1958 to Paul and Marie (Shindelar) Tieskoetter. He grew up on a farm in Ossian, Iowa with his parents and 8 siblings. Paul attended St. Francis DeSales grade school, South Winneshiek High School and graduated college from University of North Iowa (UNI) with a degree in Accounting. Paul was always a numbers guy.
In June 1983, he married his love Barb (Grobe). He was extremely proud of and grateful for their children Michael and Alicia and son-in-law Ryan. And he had a special place in his heart for his three granddaughters Margot, Lena and Remi who called him Papa.
Paul spent his entire accomplished career in finance/banking. He had an admired work ethic at work and home. His commitment to giving back through community service was exemplary. Paul’s faith was important to him. He was a devote Catholic and active member of St. Francis Church.
He liked to golf, fish, woodwork, play cards, spend time with friends and all things Iowa Hawkeyes. But his love was spending time with his family. He enjoyed so many great times and created so many memories with family and friends at the cabin. It truly was his happy place.
His honesty, kindness, generosity, strength and courage will be forever remembered for all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife Barb, his children Michael and Alicia (Ryan) Frank, and grand daughters Margot, Lena and Remi Frank. He is also survived by siblings LouAnn (Tony) Langreck, Gerry (Jeanne), Jim (Sally), Luke (Judy), Leon (Sandi), Mark (Marlene), Jane (Ron) Schmitt. And in-laws Barb Tieskoetter, Jan (Doran) Grobe, Pat Humphrey, Mary (Chuck) Sender, Jim (Julie) Grobe, Joe (Kim) Grobe, Michelle (Jeff) Weisz, Deana Grobe, Lori (Matt) Waller, Suanne (James) Ranheim and Joanne Grobe. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Francis (infant) and Dale and sister-in-law Lois.

Paul will be missed by many.. I met him through SE MN VITA / AARP volunteer work. He was a wonderful volunteer and excellent resource. A gentle person. Very sorry for the loss to your family.
Paul was among the best people I have ever known. He personified kindness, patience and good humor. I learned so much just watching him in action and will always think of him fondly for his contributions to Rochester Catholic Schools. May God grant him peace.
Dear Barb and family,
Bill and I are so very sorry to hear of Paul's passing.
It was such a privilege to be a bridesmaid in your wedding, I knew then you had found a "special" guy. Over the years we moved states apart, but we always kept in touch. The one unique think everyone can "glean" from you and your family is your sense of Faith, Family and Fun!
I'm so thankful you are surrounded by so much love at this extremely difficult time.
Paul's legacy will live on, through stories, his handwork and your precious memories.
May God hold you all close and comfort you.
Love you, Stephanie Kruger
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I knew Paul from our mutual volunteering at Volunteers in Tax Assistance. He was generous, kind and thoughtful. We will miss him. God Bless
Our sympathies are with all of you. Paul’s passing was way too soon but I think he lived everything to its fullest. Paul was a good listener and active participant in so many projects.
We are deeply saddened with your loss Barb and family. Paul was definitely one of a kind. His faith and courage was always admired by many. I will miss his hug. Our community and our St Francis family have lost a wonderful man
My sympathy to you Barb and your family. Paul was a sweetheart. He had the best smile. I really enjoyed working with him at McGladrey. So sorry life was taken at such an early age. Heaven gained a special person
