Milo F. Berndt

Milo Francis Berndt died of natural causes on July 5, 2020 at the Homestead at Rochester at the age of 93.

Milo was born on March 20, 1927, in Rochester, to Fern and John Berndt Sr. The farm he grew up on is where the Homestead at Rochester is now located.

He married Phyllis Redding on August 25, 1945 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester. Milo was the General Manager of Reynolds Wholesale Company in Rochester for the bulk of his career. After retirement at age 62, he developed a passion for golf. He played golf 5 to 6 days a week (spending just as much time looking for other’s lost balls, as he spent playing the game). He was very proud of his two hole-in-ones. He played regularly until he was 92.

He is survived by his three children Daniel (Sandra) of Rochester, Penny Ann (Grant) Kirgis of Rochester, Rocky (Kathleen Lynch) of St. Paul, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis (2013), five siblings,  and a grandson.

A private family funeral service will be held with Father Russell Scepaniak officiating, at a later date. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Rochester.

The thing we loved about Milo was he always greeted us with sincere smile and made such a good impression. May he Rest In Peace.

Berndt family, I am sorry to hear about Milo.  Growing up across the street I remember him smiling and joking with my dad.  Deepest Sympathy

Milo was a true gentleman.  Joe and I really enjoyed being with Phyllis and Milo.  I am sorry about his passing and will keep the family in my prayers.

I spent many hours playing on the Berndt/McCoy driveway. The Berndts never once complained about the annoying neighbor kids on their property. I just remember smiles, golf clubs, and candy handouts. So sorry for your loss.

Rocky and Family,

Your dad was one of the sweetest kindest people I think I have ever met!!  I didn’t know him that well but he always had a smile and kind word.  The part about him shagging balls is what I remember from Willow Creek!! He could watch a shot and almost walk right to that spot in the 3ft grass ( I was there a lot!!). I’m sure he is helping find balls in a better place!!  My deepest  condolences to you and your family.

Penny, Danny, and Rocky.

I will remember your dad chewing tobacco and trying ti give us some, when we were kids and the Sunday afternoon drives to no where in particular. Will miss seeing him when I visit.
