Marlys M. Bartholomew

Marlys M. Bartholomew

Marlys Marie Bartholomew, 82, of Rochester, MN peacefully went to heaven on Thursday, September 26, 2024, to reunite with her beloved husband for the rest of eternity.  Marlys was born September 13th, 1942, in Blooming Prairie, MN, to Magnus and Marie Nelson.  On April 2nd, 1962, she married Charles Batholomew. Together, the couple raised four children in their more than 60 years of marriage.

To Marlys, family was everything. She modeled consistently that the roots of family are one of life’s greatest blessings. As the matriarch of the family, she was the foundation of love and support.  She took such pride in raising her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She was a pillar of support, advice, and admiration.

Marlys enjoyed the beauty of nature and God’s creations.  She especially loved hummingbirds, Monarch butterflies, and flowering gardens.  Lilacs were one of her favorite flowers and her husband Charles would frequently surprise her with blooms when in season.  Music, books, and her life-long friendships were also some of Marlys’s favorite things.

Marlys was preceded in death by her husband Charles who she has missed dearly for the past 2.5 years, her parents Magnus and Marie Nelson, and her brother Maynard Nelson.  She is survived by their children Ricky (Julie) Bartholomew, Rebecca (David) Ness, Sue (Joe) Pearson, and Barb (Paul) Palmby; grandchildren CJ, Jesse, Brooke, Holly, Tucker, Taylor, Arthur, Katie, and Tessa; and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Julia, Breklynn, Emma, Maddie, Paige, Kian, and Milani, her brother LaVerne, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, at 11 AM at the Marion Road Christian Church (4051 50th Ave SE, Rochester, MN 55904) with Pastor Monte French officiating.  Visitation is one hour before the service.  Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester, MN following the service.

P.S. - Is there a charity or a foundation to which we might make a donation in  your mother's name?

Becky and family, I’m  so so sad for you and your family. Losing someone you love so much is difficult.  There’s always something missing from your heart. Try to think of all the wonderful times you had together.  ❤️ Cathy

My Aunt Marlys was a very loving, caring person. I miss her warm hugs and her cute laugh. I will always treasure memories of time spent with her and my cousins. The Bartholomew family is in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. May the heritage of loving and caring that Marlys passed on strengthen them, draw them closer together and give them peace now.

With Heartfelt condolences I am so sorry and sad to hear about your loss.
