Lon L. McLagan

Lon Lamont McLagan, 64, of Rochester, MN, was found deceased in his home on the morning of November 17th, 2024.

Lon was born on August 7th, 1960 in Rochester, MN, to Dee and Mary McLagan (Erikson). He graduated from Mayo High School in 1979. On September 9th, 1994, he married his former spouse Jane Serbus (DeMarino) at Little Brown Church in Chickasaw County, Iowa. Though they eventually went their separate ways, they had one child together in September of 1998, who they loved the most.

Lon was employed at various businesses as a tile setter. He became highly skilled in his craft and enjoyed the artistry of his occupation. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and boating. He loved spending time with his daughter, helping others with projects, animals but especially dogs, and spending quality time with family. Some of his fondest memories were of his countless fishing trips in Canada as well as training his late dogs Jazz and Cody to become “some of the best pheasant hunting dogs you would ever see.” Like his father, Dee McLagan, Lon would always help his family with home improvements. Some of his last jobs included laying hard wood floors, building a deck and building a barn door for his sister Donlie. Much like every other person working in construction, his home was the last to get finished but he wouldn’t have had it any other way.

He is survived by his daughter: Grace McLagan of Rochester; siblings, Donlie McLagan of Chatfield, Lori (Mike) Miller of Stewartville and Brad (Jo) McLagan of Rochester.

He is preceeded in death by his mother Mary (Erikson) McLagan (February 18th, 2022), and father Dee McLagan (August 3rd, 2004).

A Celebration Of Life will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1st, 2024 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and we invite everyone to join us for lunch from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

We would appreciate very much and love to hear your favorite “Lon” stories during this time.

To the Mclagan Family and Grace-

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Lon. I got to know him when he worked with Med City Tile and Chris. He was such a nice down to earth guy and I enjoyed chatting with him when I would bump into him over the years in Rochester. I am very sorry for your loss. I have a great memory of pheasant hunting with him and his labrador "Jazz" and having a great day hunting up by Pine Island. Lon will be missed.
