“Laurie” Supalla
February 13, 1963 – July 24, 2025
Laureen Lynn Supalla, a cherished wife, mother, daughter, and friend, passed away on July 24, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on February 13, 1963, in Rochester, MN, Laurie was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her.
A graduate of Mayo High School, Class of 1981, Laurie embarked on a fulfilling career at the Mayo Clinic, where she worked as a clerical float for many years before retiring in 2014. Laurie made lasting friendships and enjoyed going out to lunch with former colleagues.
In 1983, Laurie married her high school sweetheart, Randy Supalla, and together they built a loving family. Laurie was a doting mother to her son, Travis, and a caring daughter to her father, Larry Aarhus. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Renee (Rob) Benson, and brother, Kevin (Sue) Aarhus, and many other family members who will cherish her memory always.
Laurie's love for nature and animals was evident in her passions. Whether she was tending to her abundant flower and vegetable gardens or spending time at Lake Kabetogama fishing, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her compassion extended beyond her family to all creatures, having shared her home with many dogs and a colorful array of wildlife throughout her life, including raccoons, fox, and skunks.
Laurie battled diabetes with courage and determination, remaining a source of positivity in every situation. Her legacy is one of care and strength, an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Aarhus, mother and father-in-law, Bob and Betty Supalla, and dear sisters-in-law, Jane Mulvihill and Sandy Olson, along with many beloved furry companions including Molly, Sydney, and Cheyenne.
The Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025 in the Church of The Resurrection Catholic Church in Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester, MN.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to Breakthrough T1D (Previously known as JDRF, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
