Kathleen A. Sedor

Kathleen Ann Sedor, 85, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 20th, 2022 at Madonna Towers in Rochester, MN after enduring Alzheimer’s disease.

Kathy was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota on July 29, 1936. She graduated from Lourdes High School in 1954. On July 9, 1960 she married Charles Sedor and together they enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Kathy retired from IBM in Rochester in the mid 1990s. They lived in Rochester for most of their lives. In retirement they spent winters in Dunedin and Clearwater, Florida where they pursued an active lifestyle of square dancing, bingo, walks, day trips, volunteering, card playing, going to the horse races, relaxing on the beach, and socializing with a vast network of friends.

Kathy and her loving husband Charlie were a charismatic, social couple who attracted friends easily resulting in so many lifelong friendships. We were blessed by her many life lessons including “Treat others how you’d like to be treated,” and she held us accountable when we veered off the path of being a “Good Catholic.” She was firm, but fair…and so loving. Her enthusiasm and support of us during athletics events was unwavering, even if she knew little of what was actually going on. She shaped us, loved us, into who we are, what we are about, and she was so proud of us. She was a wonderful mother.

Kathleen was extremely loving of her husband Charles, deceased, and sons Mike (Joanna, daughter Mallory), Dave (Jeri Lynn Waller-deceased), and Dan (Karen, grandchildren Brad and Amanda, great grandchild Brooklyn). She is also survived by her sister Mary Whiting (Terry), brothers Steve Beckley, deceased, John, Tom (Tina), and Jerome along with a large extended family. She was preceded in death by parents Lawrence and Helen Beckley.

A visitation for Kathleen will be held Friday, January 28th, 2022, from 4pm to 6pm in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th Street SE, Rochester, MN 55904.

Condolences

The family of Kathleen A. Sedor has received the following condolences.

I have so many fond memories of both Kathleen and Chuck I couldn’t begin to even list them.  They go back to my early childhood.  There was always Laughter and joy when they were near.  My deepest condolences to Dan,  David and Mike and their families for their loss.  Find peace in your memories.        Marysue Tarara. (1st cousin, Daughter of Paul and Rosemary)

Dear Family,

I am so sad for your loss. Kathleen and "Uncle Chuck" were often visitors at my parents Rosemary and Paul Tarara's home.  Kathy even looked to my mom as her "other Mother." They were both such a joy to be around and I was always so excited when they visited because it was like a party.  A lot of laughter! Both their smiles were infectious. I think they gave me a "Chatty Cathy" doll - or maybe "Uncle Chuck" played with it… I fondly remember spending a Christmas with them and how much fun we had.  I used to go to the baseball diamond close to the RR tracks off Center St. to watch Uncle Chuck umpire games.

The world is dimmer without them. Sending Love and hugs to you all - Katie (Kathy) Tarara (one of many cousins)

Dan, Dave, Mike and your extended families:  I am so sorry for your huge loss but am so happy for your mother's new life where she is whole again.  I was glad to have worked with Kathy at IBM.  She was a good friend. I know how proud she was of her boys.  With our sympathy.  Judy and Les Thronson

Goodbye to a Beautiful Lady.
My condolences to your family. Thoughts and prayers.

Mike, Dave, Dan,

I didn't know your mother very well, but I remember you guys from the 'old' days and i knew your dad very well.  My condolences to you and your families.

Mike, Dave, Dan,

Mike, Dan & Dave    Although your Mom was 20 years older than I, she was a large part of my life. We spent several Thanksgivings with your family and I remember those times fondly.  I remember when all of us "kids" made our parents sit at the "kids" card table during dinner. We all had a good laugh.

Many fond memories 1954 LHS classmate !!

Rest in Peace !!

Dear family,

Kathleen was my awesome “older” cousin. She was always so kind to me and I loved her. Many years later my husband and I made our first trip to Florida. I touched base with Kathy and as luck would have it we were vacationing close to their winter home. They took us under their wings and introduced us to many of Floridas treasures. They treated us as if we were long lost friends. Thank you dear Kathy?
My memories of her are warm and loving. God bless you my dear cousin.

Dan, Dave and Mike,

It is as if a light has done out, a star has gone dark, my sister Kathleen is gone. I will always hear her laughter, know her joy for life. I will remember the pride she had for you boys.  I will always know the love she had for Chuck, and his for her.

She was thirteen when I was born, more like my mother than my sister.  And I loved her for that.  She was a fifties gal, right down to her poodle skirt.  She enjoyed her music loud.  We all seemed to play the piano sometime in our life, but every time I hear "Blue Moon" I think of her.

There is a missing piece of my heart now.  I will always feel that pain.  So long Kathleen, I will always love you.

Your brother, Thomas

Dan,David & Mike so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. We had many fun times with your mom & dad.

Mike and the Sedor Family,

You are in my thoughts and prayers during this time.  Thank you for sharing your mom and dad with us.
