Frances Daly
Frances “Fran” (Joyce) Daly of Rochester, MN, age 85, died Thursday, July 1, 2021 at her home at Madonna Towers.
Fran was born August 18, 1935, in Rochester, MN, the daughter of Leon and Ethel (Roeder) Joyce. She graduated from Lourdes High School in 1953. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the College of St. Teresa in Winona, MN. She was united in marriage to Roger Daly June 28, 1958. She began her professional career as a grade school teacher at St. Francis in Rochester. She also taught at other schools in the Twin Cities area. Fran worked for the family business, Leon Joyce Construction Company. Later, she was co-owner and manager of Bacchus Lounge and Brekke Fireplace. Fran volunteered extensively, including as Chair of the College of St. Teresa Alumnae Association. She was selected to give the final commencement address the year the college closed. She was also Administrator of the Minnesota chapter of the International Dyslexia Association, and worked tirelessly to promote scholarships to support students with dyslexia. Fran also served as President of Parish Council at St. John’s Catholic Church and later Pax Christi Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Roger; two sons, Thomas (Dionne) of Bemidji, MN, and Timothy (Lynn) of St. Paul, MN; granddaughter, Ava; siblings: Marie Boler of St. Paul, Margaret Joyce of Rochester, Bernie Joyce of Eagan, MN, and Ann (Dick) Christiansen of Golden Valley, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Joseph.
The memorial service will be Friday, July 9, 2021 at 10:30AM in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, with Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, July 8 from 5 – 7PM at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
Memorials are preferred to Elks National Foundation (ENF), or the Lourdes Foundation.

My heart goes out to the Daly family.. I remember when Roger would do boards for special games ...there was a slot for Fran d and if I was fortunate to win everyone thought it was Fran Daly. Fran was among the Joyce sisters who served as role models for her younger cousins. I offer my deepest sympathy to Roger and Fran's other family members who will miss her. We all will remember her valuable contributions to society.
