Ellen K. Seim, 89, of Rochester, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Madonna Towers.
Ellen was born May 29, 1934 in Minneiska, MN to Ronnell and Angeline (Schleck) Marten. She was a 1953 graduate of Winona High School. Ellen met David Seim while he was serving in the U.S. Navy and on June 1, 1957, Ellen and David were united in marriage. Ellen and David were blessed with four children. Growing up, Ellen loved going fishing with her dad and cooking and baking with her mom. Ellen enjoyed crocheting, knitting and canning pickles and tomatoes. She loved playing Bingo, doing word puzzles and going dancing with David at the Pla-Mor Ballroom. Ellen and David also enjoyed taking their yearly trips to Phoenix and Las Vegas together. Ellen worked at Saint Marys Hospital as a cook from June of 1965 until she retired in October of 1994. Ellen was a tremendous cook and cherished having her family together for Sunday dinner after church. Ellen was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She was thoughtful and caring. Above all, Ellen’s family was her pride and joy.
Ellen is survived by her children, Wayne Seim, Susan Hodge and Sharon Hasley, all of Rochester; grandchildren, Andrew (Christina) Hodge, Stephanie (Mike) Arneson, Dan Hasley Jr., Brandon Hasley, Sarah (Alex Courson) Hasley; great-grandchildren, Lillian, Caroline, Saffron, Ryan, Adelaide, Quinn, Faith, Camila, and Autumn and sisters, Mary Jacobi and Theresa (Eugene) Marking. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, David; daughter, Linda Seim and by her siblings, Walter, Rita and Francis.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. SE, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of the funeral. The Rev. Hayden Kvamme will be officiating with burial at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Memorials are suggested to Madonna Towers or to Heartland Hospice in memory of Ellen.

We just wanted to send our love to Ellen's family as we were blessed to Visit with her while she was in TEG. She love our two dogs so much when we would come in, and it gave us such joy to see her reaction when we would walk into her room for a Visit. We are so sorry for your loss!!!
