Cheryl A. Timander

Cheryl Anne Timander age 66, of Rochester, MN. passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024.  Cheryl was born in Chicago, Illinois.  She was raised in a convent in Puerto Rico from 1965-1977, then resided at the Rochester State Hospital until she moved to Hiawatha Homes in 1981.

Cheryl embraced life with an infectious spirit.  Over the years she brought so much joy to those who knew and loved her.  She had many unique qualities such as her big brown expressive eyes, thick dark hair, ageless skin, and contagious yet sometimes mischievous laugh.

Cheryl loved shopping and always looked her best wherever she went.  Cheryl was very sensory oriented and loved experiencing various sights, foods, music, scents, and being pampered with massages. In previous years, Cheryl attended PossAbilities of Southern MN Life Enrichment program. In her younger years, Cheryl especially loved her jack in the box, her purring kitty, shoelaces and keys and was even known to swipe staff’s keys without them knowing.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Carmen Cecilia and Clarence Carl Timander.  She is survived by her brother, Jeffery Timander; Sister, Linda (Robert) Berger and their son, Caleb; brother, Kerry (Amy) Timander and their son Max and daughter Ruby.

Cheryl was loved and will be greatly missed by the people who cared for her with compassion at Hiawatha Homes. Special gratitude to the Nursing and Direct Support Staff; Stacy, Michelle, Alejandra; Guardian, Sally Arrindell who advocated for her over the past years.

A Visitation for Cheryl will be held on Wednesday, October 30th from 11:30AM to 1:00PM at The River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home.  A light lunch will be served during the event.  Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery immediately following.

If so desired, memorials may be directed to Hiawatha Homes.
