Carson W. Frutiger

Carson Wagoner Frutiger, 26, of Rochester, died January 22, 2019 after a seven month battle with fungal pneumonia. Throughout this time, he fought bravely and met every challenge with a graceful assuredness.

Carson was born February 25, 1992 in Fargo, North Dakota, to Bruce and Kathy (Wagoner) Frutiger. He grew up in Rochester and graduated from Century High School. He attended Bethel University where he earned a degree in Biblical and Theological Studies and Youth Ministry.

Carson was a man of faith who was passionate about loving people. He had a heart for ministry and mentoring. He worked as a youth pastor at New Day Covenant Church in Rochester and Eagle Brook Church in Anoka. Carson also volunteered with Young Life and Hockey Ministries International. In all his work he cared for others, walked with them through life’s ups and downs, and made them laugh.

Carson is survived by his parents, Bruce and Kathy Frutiger of Rochester; his sister, Megan Frutiger; his grandparents, Richard and Connie Frutiger; his aunts and uncles, Doug and Anne Frutiger; Lynne Frutiger; Dean and Susan Wittren, Joe and Theresa Wagoner, Neil and Gretchen Touchette; his cousins, Alexandra, Henry, Charlie, Heather, Katie, James, Grace and Nick; and by Father Michael Champlin. Carson was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Richard and Elaine Wagoner; and his namesake Father Carson Champlin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Autumn Ridge Church in Rochester on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 1st from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester as well as one hour prior to the service at Autumn Ridge Church, Rochester. A luncheon will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers we ask that you designate any memorial funds to one of the following organizations: Children’s Hope Chest, which equips orphans and vulnerable children, families and communities to escape the cycle of poverty; Hockey Ministries International, which reaches the world of hockey, every team, every player, everywhere with the message of hope found in Jesus Christ; or The Mayo Clinic Poverello Fund, which provides financial support for patients in need.

Heartfelt gratitude to those who were part of Carson’s Care Team at the Mayo Clinic, your love for Carson was shared through your work and innumerable acts of kindness, and we are so grateful. To all those that have loved Carson so well, thank you; we have not traveled this journey alone. Although Carson is no longer with us he is most definitely home! God is Good All the Time.

Condolences

The family of Carson W. Frutiger has received the following condolences.

Lynne & the Frutiger Family,

I heard about Carson thru Lynne whom I work with & thru my sister who heard about him thru her TC church.  My heart breaks for you.  Lynne & Carson's parents nurtured and guided Carson to be the person he is & was.  I envision God holding Carson in the palm of his hand!

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

I am so very sorry for your loss of this young man. God obviously blessed him with parents that would love and raise him to be the faithful and wonderful son he grew to be. I wish I had been blessed to know him, but trust he is with Jesus and other Frutigers in heaven, each with happy welcome home smiles! I will honor your request for donation to Mayo as they were also there for my husband David. God be with you in the years ahead. Mary Frutiger, Kenyon MN.

Dear Gretchen and family,

We are so sorry to hear of your nephew Carson's passing.  The firm has made a donation in his memory to the Mayo Clinic Poverello Fund.

With heartfelt condolences,
Your friends at Larson King

Dear Bruce, Kathy and entire Frutiger family,

We are so saddened to learn of Carson's passing.  We have been blessed to work and worship with Carson during our time at New Day/AWANA.  He truly was an amazing and kindhearted young man.  He gave so much of himself to others and will be remembered for his incredible smile, great character and insatiable love for our Lord.  He has touched the lives of countless people in his short time here on earth.  His legacy will live on in our hearts forever.

I am so sorry to hear of Carson's death.  Meghan informed me the other day and I was in disbelief.   I had no idea he had been sick, I haven't been to New Day for a couple years but your family was always one of those special families we've known since we first started attending Autumn Ridge.  The kids in youth group, drama and confirmation.

Condolences to the entire Frutiger family,  he will be greatly missed.

I’m so sorry to hear of Carson’s passing. I remember when he was little and would help out at the Olmsted County Fair in the DNR Building. Wishing you all the very best during this difficult time.

Bruce and Kathy,

There are no words that can fully convey our condolences at your loss. Although we never got to meet Carson, he sounds like a person who definitely left his mark in a life that was cut short far too soon. The effect that Carson has had on those he came in contact with will be his legacy. It sounds like that legacy of a life well lived will be widespread. May your positive attitude and faith sustain you in this very sad time. You will be in our thoughts and prayers going forward.

With great sadness and condolences,

Pete Williams and the Williams family (Dave, Barb, David, John, and Sarah)

Deepest condolences to all his family,

I didn't know him personally but it is painful seeing young people die. Working in a nursing field I've seeing death but young people death is one of the most incredible and painful, especially for young God's people. People, doing His job , His followers.

I'm sure he will get His rewards on His time. Every soul who found Jesus as a Savior trough this man, will bless the Lord for job he did.

We will see you in Heaven, son of God.

My prayers and thoughts are with the Frutiger family.  I know the great pain that you feel when you lose someone you love.  May your faith in God and the strength of the Century High School community surround you with the love and help that you will need in the days, weeks, and months ahead.  God’s Blessing’s to you!?

Bruce, Kathy, Megan and family,

Our hearts grieve with you as you remember the wonderful life of Carson. Please know that you can call on us for support and any help you need with anything.  I'm so sorry.

To All of Carson's Family;  We knew Carson, only through his grandparents, Dick and Connie. They kept us updated on his progress. We prayed for him at home and church. His faith, and life were truly a testimony to anyone who dealt with him and his family! Our sincerest wishes for God's comfort and peace in the time ahead.

Carson was, indeed, a very special young man who brightened the lives of everyone he met. Please know you have been and will be in our thoughts and prayers.

What a gift Carson was to all of us.  He made us laugh. He was a whirlwind in the kitchen.  His knowledge of Scripture and theology warmed my heart. He was a wicked board and card game player.  And he joined his suffering with the suffering of Christ, and now is in glory!

I never got the honor of meeting Carson in person, but feel as if I knew him through Lynne. My heart breaks for your whole family. Much love to you all during this difficult time.

Our entire congregation at Rochester Covenant Church grieves the passing of Carson.  Many people here know and remember Carson, have thought the world of him, and have been praying for him and for the family throughout his illness and fight for life.  We grieve with you and will continue to uphold you in our prayers.
