Carrol R. Morris

Carrol Roger Morris, 92, passed away in his sleep just before midnight on November 6th, 2024. He will be profoundly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Carrol is survived by his wife, Ellen, son Christopher, granddaughter Georgianna, grandson Ethan and youngest sister, Sandy McDonald

Born in Mantorville, Minnesota on February 15th, 1932 to Garrol and Grace (Evans) Morris, Carrol was the eldest of eight children; Barbara, Donald, Dale, James, David, Sandra and Richard, all except Sandy are deceased.

Carrol graduated from Claremont High School and shortly after graduation got a job in Owatonna where he met Ellen (Case). Carrol and Ellen got engaged soon after but had to move up the date of their wedding due to Carrol being drafted for the Korean War. On June 7th, 1952 they tied the knot and by July 2nd Carrol was off to basic training. After basic, Carrol served as the company clerk in the 101st Airborne until the end of the war, never going overseas and was released from service with an Honorable Discharge in July 1954. Carrol eventually ended up, with Ellen, in Hannibal, Missouri as a plant manager for National Yearbook and worked there from 1957 to 1968. Carrol and Ellen moved back to Minnesota, ending up in Rochester where they remained, having their son Christopher in 1971. Carrol worked numerous jobs over the years and finally retired in 1995.

Carrol was an avid reader and visitor of the Rochester Public Library, reading 6-10 books a month. Carrol also loved movies and music and spending time with people who made him laugh and who he could make laugh.

Carrol will be sorely missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00pm Monday, November 11th, 2024, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial at another date at Owatonna Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Seasons Hospice.
