Beverly Jean Gross

Beverly “Bev” Jean Gross, 71, of Rochester, MN, died Thursday, August 20th, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Bev was born on September 12, 1948 in Baltimore, MD to Ivan and Esther Gehrman. Her father was in the Navy and the family moved to several cities before settling in Turtle Lake, WI. She graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1966. After high school she moved to the Twin Cities area and worked for Sears Roebuck and Co. On August 24th 1968, she married her high school sweetheart Gary Gross at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Turtle Lake, WI. The couple moved to Eau Claire, WI before settling down in Rochester, MN. Bev worked at Sears in the Rochester area for many years before pausing to raise her children. She went back to work at Sears and retired in 2007.

Bev loved her family, her beloved pets, all animals, putting together puzzles, traveling, cheering on her husband and son at ski or mountain bike races, singing along to any Beatles song and reading Stephen King novels. Gary and Bev traveled to Europe multiple times and enjoyed watching the Tour de France bike race together. She also loved to go to Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney concerts. She enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking.

She is survived by her husband Gary, son Cory (Sabrina) Gross of Stillwater, MN, and daughter Angela (Matt) Sorenson of Rochester, MN; grandchildren (Reed, Ayda, Fern and Graham); sisters (Kathy, Cheryl and Debbie) and brother (Bucky); numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, father and one brother (Bo).

A private family burial will be held in September at Oakwood East Cemetery in Rochester. A celebration of life event will be held at a later date to be determined.

Because of her love of animals, memorials are preferred to the Rochester Paws and Claws organization (pawsandclaws.org).
