Beth Rae Beytien
Beth Rae Beytien was born on November 21, 1963, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Spencer and Joyce (Bergendahl) Beytien. Beth was baptized as an infant at United Church of Christ in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She graduated from Hutchinson High School, class of 1982. Beth continued her education at Southwest Minnesota State and Mankato State University receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She furthered her education with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota.
Beth moved to Rochester, Minnesota and began her teaching career at Byron Public Schools. Over the 37 years, she taught kindergarten, first, second, third and fourth grade. She retired in the spring of 2024. In retirement, she stayed active in the Byron Public Schools by being a substitute teacher as she enjoyed seeing her former students and colleagues.
Her love of teaching extended outside the classroom as she taught many exercise classes and earned many accreditations. No matter the season, Beth was always active, whether it be tennis, pickleball, hiking, biking or skiing. She enjoyed traveling to new places, especially if it included a beach. Outside of these activities, Beth’s social life was her favorite. From patios, wineries, coffee shops, backyards, boats, campgrounds or anywhere in between, she enjoyed being anywhere with friends. Beth had what she called FOMO (fear of missing out), and she rarely ever did! She also never missed out on going on her daily walks and adventures with her boyfriend, Casey.
Above all else, her greatest gift in life was being a mom to her daughter, Allie. From their mother and daughter dates to their daily FaceTime calls, Beth cherished it all. On top of that, her greatest joy in life was becoming a Gigi to Ella.
Beth passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the age of 60 years. Beth is preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Beytien. Beth is survived by her daughter, Allie (Brett) Applegath, granddaughter, Ella of Rochester, boyfriend, Casey Jones of Rochester, father, Spencer Beytien of Hutchinson, sister, Lisa (Paul) Beytien-Carlson of St. Paul, nieces, Abby (Robert) DuBé and Libby (Joseph) Huemoeller and their children. She will be missed by many, and her sparkle will forever shine.
