Hi Liz and Family,
Sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers and thoughts are with you. God Blees you all.
Dear Canan family,
My deepest sympathies go out to you all and your extended family at the loss of Will. While I never met him, Liz captured his gallant fight and his patient spirit through her journaling that brought many of us close. May your memories be forever and your grief be brief knowing he is at peace. Prayers for you at this difficult time.
Dear Canan family,
We were so very sorry to hear about Will. He put up a courageous fight, and I'm sure he was very comforted to know his family was with him in his final hours. While heaven is rejoicing and taking Will into the fold, there's sadness here for many who knew and loved Will. We pray for God's peace and comfort to all of you!
Thirty plus years ago when our niece was in Peds at St. Marys Hospital, there was a poem in a frame on the wall that I've shared over the years, and I wanted to share it with you.
With continued prayers,
Dave and Ruthie Sjoblom and family
A Child Loaned
“I’ll lend you, for a little time, a child of mine,” he said,
“For you to love the while he lives, And mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three,
But will you, till I call him back, Take care of him for me?”
“He’ll bring his charms to gladden you, And should his stay be brief,
You’ll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.”
“I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked this wide world over in my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes I have selected you.
“Now will you give him all your love, Not think that labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call and take him back again?”
I fancied that I heard them say, ‘Dear Lord, Thy will be done,
For all the joy this child shall bring, the risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness; we’ll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we’ve known, forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him much sooner than we planned,
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.’
Dear Tom and Family,
It was with great humbleness that through Ms. Canan's posts we followed and saw Will's courage and grace while faced with such unimaginable adversity.
While we never met Will in person we got a strong sense of what a brave young man he was and the impact he had on countless people.
We cannot possibly imagine the feelings and the sense of loss you must be going through right now, and we wish for you all the peace, all the love and all the strength as you carry on and celebrate Will's life and what he meant to each of you.
On behalf of us all, please accept our deepest sympathies on such an untimely loss.
Arens Dilaveri & Family.

Liz and Tom and family, I am so sad to hear of the death of your beautiful son Will. May all of the happy memories be a comfort to you always. (I think the team with Will on shortstop has Gregg playing third base, and that warms my heart a little. ) Nancy

Know that Will's spirit and smile reached out and touched thousands of people all over the world. His courage has helped thousands of families struggling with a child who is or has been ill. I have never met Will or your family but type this today with "Blue" fingernail polish on my hand and tears on my face. Your struggle is over Will, rest in peace. To your family know he will live on in the hearts and minds of others for years to come. God Bless.
My heart goes out to your family in the loss of your little boy, Will. My sons, Colin Boysen and Justin Boysen, both have sons who have played baseball. It is most likely one of them knew your son, which brings your loss closer to my family.
May God Bless You and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

My heart breaks for your entire family as you cope with such extreme loss. I did not know Will, but just recently came across his story and he hasn't left my thoughts since. I can't imagine the pain you have all went through in the past years, but the pictures you have posted on his caringbridge show that he was making the best of what he had. I can't get enough of his smile. Even without meeting him, I know he was an amazing person. Keep your memories of him close as they will help you in the days ahead. Let all this love from people around you help you through. God bless your entire family. My heart is with you all. RIP Will.
I never had the pleasure of meeting Will; though, I know he touched many lives in such a special way. Throughout the years, I encountered several people who told me a story about a friend , "Will," who was full of courage and such an inspiration. There was usually mention of what an amazing family he had who faithfully surrounded him and supported him in all that he faced an hoped to achieve. Of course, one might say, well, "This is what families do." In a perfect world, yes, but, some families come apart when tragedy strikes.... or just do not have the foundation that binds together, those who are called "family." What a testament to your selfless way of loving through it all! What a gift to have been given, if yours here on Earth only for a time too short....I am certaine that in the days, weeks and perhaps months to come, there will be new realization, even by casual friends, of the many wonderful experiences and life lessons learned through interaction and knowing Will and family. Perhaps this not even noticed or realized until years later. Powerful and priceless.... I give you my deepest sympathy, knowing there is a "Will" sized hole in your hearts, that will always be there. I pray for comfort and gentle healing, as Jesus surrounds you with His love and peace. May God bless you forever with the wonderful memories you created together, and with the knowing that you will be together again....for eternity.
Tom and Family,
Tom, I am glad I had the opportunity to meet Will when he accomplanied you to some adaptive Park and Rec sports nights....he loved those nights of kickball and whiffleball and we loved having the both of you there volunteering!! What an amazing young man who was an inspiration to all. Know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Rest in peace, Will. You leave a legacy of faith, hope, love, courage and inspiration.
My deepest sympathy to Liz, Tom, Katherine, grandparents and all relatives and friends of Will.
Liz, I do not know if you remember me from my days at Mayo, but I wanted to tell you how very sorry I am to learn of Will's death. This is heartbreaking. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and Tom.
May the Good Lord watch over you both and give you comfort and support during the most difficult time a parent can endure. May He also keep you safe and well while giving you strength.
God bless you and yours. My deepest and sincerest sympathies to you all.
Our sincere sympathy to all of your family. Will was a brave young man who managed to make the most of his very short life. May he enjoy the company of angels in heaven.
Tom, Liz and Katherine,
