Viola “Vi” Terpenning

Viola K. Terpenning passed away on July 27, 2017 at the age of 92, at Madonna Towers in Rochester.

Vi was born to Mara and Thomas Stanton on September 30, 1924 in Deposit, New York, and with her twin Vernon, was the last of 13 children. Viola married Freeland Terpenning in 1946.  The couple moved to Rochester in 1957 where Freeland worked for IBM. Vi excelled in golf, bowling, and shuffleboard and the couple frequently wintered in Florida. She was an excellent crafter and enjoyed knitting caps for newborn babies.

Vi is preceded in death by her husband, Freeland (December 2016); and all her siblings.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda; grandchildren, Dorinda (Troy) Williams, Jerry Holtorf Jr., and Dawn Holtorf; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The funeral service for Vi will be held at 10:30a.m. Thursday, August 3, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Horntvedt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery of Rochester.

Sorry to see the lost of Vi. She was very close to my parents and the rest of us in the family. Vi and Terp were great people and will be missed deeply by all.
