The Funeral Mass for Thomas F. Fogarty will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester, MN.  Burial will be at St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Simpson, MN.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8th, 2016 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, and one hour prior to the Mass at St. Francis on Friday.

Tom passed away unexpectedly at his home due to a medical emergency resulting from multiple bee stings on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at age 64.  He was born on October 16, 1951 in Rochester to Claire & Helen (Kelly) Fogarty.  He grew up on the family farm near Simpson and graduated from Stewartville High School in 1969.  On March 10, 1973 he married Pam Brekke.  During that time he became the proud dad of Karrie & Chris.  On May 8, 1982 he married Madonna Oleson & became a proud dad of Ryan and Kelly.  His five grandchildren, Zygmund, Walker, Ayva, Maya and Lauren, were the light of his life.   Tom had spent many years working for Praxair of Rochester and was working for Rochester City Delivery at the time of his passing. He will be deeply missed.

Tom loved spending time talking with his family and friends, and having coffee with his wife. Nothing made him happier than to spend his weekends watching football and hunting with his boys, or listening to his girls and sharing his words of wisdom and stories with them.   He loved woodworking projects and was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan.

He is survived by his wife Madonna, children Karrie (Chris) Fursa, Chris (Tracey) Fogarty, Ryan (Christina) Fogarty, Kelly (PJ McIntee) Fogarty, five grandchildren Zygmund, Walker, Ayva, Maya and Lauren.  Brother Pat (Sue) Fogarty, sisters Margaret Fogarty, and Connie (Dave) Krebsbach, Mother and Father in Law, Donald & Joyce Oleson. Brothers & Sisters-In-Law, Roger (Roxane) Oleson, Chuck (Donna) Oleson, Tina (Steve) Lawrence, Sandy (Bryan) Pedersen, and Tony (Betsy) Oleson as well as several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Terry, as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Memorials are preferred to the family of Tom and will be distributed to select charities.

Margaret and to Fogarty Family -

My thoughts and prayers are with you today and the upcoming days as you move through this difficult time.

During these difficult moments in life I look to quotes and sayings for some comfort. At this time I think of two similar poems but still bring a tear to my eyes each time I recite them and think of my family.

A Million Times
Author Unknown

You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knew why

A million times we've needed you
A million times we've cried
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.

In life we loved you dearly
In death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place
That no one else will ever fill.

It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God took you Home.

The Broken Chain

I little knew that morning
That God would call your name
In life I loved you dearly
in death I do the same
It broke my heart to lose you
You did not go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home
You left us peaceful memories
Your love is still our guide
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken
And nothing seems the same;
But as God calls us, one by one,
The chain will link again.

My heart breaks for your family in the middle of this heart breaking time. I am so sorry for your loss.

Carrie
