Condolences

The family of Thomas G. Murphy has received the following condolences.

"Murph", hard to believe hs is gone. Since high school we have not been in touch. I remember his smile and the twinkle in his eye. He accomplished a lot in his short lifetime, a lot to his credit and his family. I am sorry for your loss. Steve

Dear Murphy family, namely, Joe, Wanda, Ryan and Derek,

I was so saddened when I heard about Tom's passing.  I remember Ryan talking about him fondly when reminiscing about working at McMurphy's.  I know that he was a wonderful man who will be missed.

My deepest sympathy goes out to you all.  He was far too young to leave.

Christine

My sincere condolences to the Murphy family.  Although I have not seen him in a long time I will always remember him as a great mentor, friend and golf coach.  He taught life through the game of golf and took care of his players like they were part of his family.  The lessons I learned from Tom on and off the course have helped me throughout my life and career. I am extremely grateful for having known him and called him a friend.

God Bless Tom and his family.  You will be missed.

Lourdes High School, 1992

Tom was a good person. Dedicated to his family. He gave back to his community in many ways, not always noticed.  He was an entrepreneur, and an astute businessman. He was a friend.

My respect and condolences to his family and friends.

Tom Murphy's passing brings me a tremendous onslaught of great memories and important messages. He taught me what loyalty was about......about the importance of not ignoring things that were difficult....that being nice and caring was one of the bests things you could be...He taught me that the best way for me to enjoy golf was to love the outdoors because I would always suck at golf. He made me laugh. He was an older brother to me and I will always miss him....God Bless Tommy.

Our son, Dan Wethington, has worked for Tom for the whole 15 years we have lived in Rochester. Dan is on a crew from A&E (Ability Enterprises) which Tom has graciously watched over like a loving father. He forgave ANY mistake with the greatest love, and we are so grateful to have known him! Tom really loved his workers and showed them such warmth and encouragement through all the experiences you have when you have a disability. What a great man of God!!! I tell Dan that Tom is now in Heaven and I am sure has found Dan's father who died of cancer in 1974 and they are saying what a great worker Dan is. Dan decided that we should have a birthday party for Tom this May (he is uncanny about timing in life) and on May 7th, we did. I am so thankful that we were able to have this last fun time with Tom. God has truly blessed us all. Thank you.

I met Tom 25 years ago. Since that day and despite the distance between Rochester and Barcelona we had a great friendship. He always would come to Barcelona if he had the chance, he would always be there. I have so many memories with him, so many cities in the world that we visit together and moments that I would never forget. Tom made my life much better. I'm so frustrated that I can't make it to be with all the people he loved in his funeral. I'm so sorry not to be there. All my love to his family and friends.

I will never forget him.

Love you Tom.

Arthur.

Tom was such a great guy. he will be missed by all those he knew. rip tom jim sheldon

Dear Murphy family

So sorry for your loss. I feel the pain too. Tom was such a warm, soft spoken, caring, compassionate, and fun loving soul who will be deeply missed, fondly remembered and eternally treasured. Irish eyes are smiling as family and friends welcome him home. Tom was always such a gracious host of our Fri night grads only portion of our class reunions. Our 45th  this summer will not be the same but you can be sure he'll be celebrated!

My sincere condolences to the Murphy family.  Tom has always had a special place in my heart - as we met 40 years ago !!  Tom took me to Prom, to my first Vikings football game (outdoors!) and  had the pleasure to enjoy many spring breaks in Tempe with Tom and his friends! Tom had a HUGE heart and a GREAT smile!  I am so sorry and sad I didn't get to the opportunity to see Tom these last few years- Tom has always meant very much to me!!  Many great memories Tom, thank you for everything - you will be missed by all!!

Love always!

Brenda

To Tom's brothers and sisters,

I am so sorry to hear the passing of Tom. He was my friend for almost 20 years. I will miss him always. I have many good memories of the times we shared at the bar, playing golf both in Minnesota and Arizona. You could not ask for a better friend in Tom, I will miss the laughter, the cheers, and most of all his friendship. I am now living & working in Bottineau/Dunseith ND, so I will not be able to attend the service, as much as I would like to be there to celebrate a wonderful person and life. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers and have my deepest sympathy.  Randy "Hammer" Hanson

I'm really sorry for the loss of Tom. He was my golf coach when I was in Rochester back in 1990. He meant a lot to me. He became a very good friend and we kept in touch till now.

He was a wonderful man. His loss leaves a void in my heart.

Alfonso.

Tom,  We were proud to know you, Always a Kind & Nice person,   Tom  you Done Good,                           Sorry you were so young,

There are people in your life that you meet and it feels like you have been life long friends.  There are not MANY, but Tom was one of those.  I never saw Tom in a position where he would not stop what he was doing to make you feel important, and that is a very rare trait.  I am a better person for knowing Tom, and those who surrounded themselves with him are also no doubt better for the experience.  I can only hope that when I have the chance to sit beside the LORD -I will have done as much good as to deserve the masses come out and LIFT me up once I am gone.

Tom, rest in Peace and watch over your friends and family with the knowledge that you lived a life which we can use as an example of how to treat each other and be dignified in life as well as death.  We LIFT You up to our LORD, and ask that he protect you and keep you in paradise while you wait for so many you love to come home and join you in the Kingdom of GOD.  AMEN.

I feel extremely fortunate to have crossed paths with Tom.  I will miss hearing his kind and sincere words of encouragement.  Always positive and a smile would be included in his greeting.

May you rest in peace.

Class of '69 - you will be missed!

My life changed when he brought me up here to help out on a little project, he took me in sight unseen on the word of a friend, he was always kind, always had a good word and was the kind of person you only encounter once in a lifetime.

There will be a huge void in this town from this point forward. He was a special person & a dear friend.

Tom, "You are the Best".

I'm so sorry for your loss, With Deepest Sympathy.. Mary Seltun

My condolences to the Murphy family and all of Tom's friends and colleagues.  Tom was one of the all-time greats and will always have a special place in my heart.  I will cherish the many fond memories Tom helped create.  What a privilege it was to have known this man!
Tom, thank you for your guidance on and off the golf course but most of all for your kindness and generosity.  I will think of you often and miss you always.

Words cannot express our sorrow to such a wonder full guy.

Deepest condolences and sympathy to the family and the large following of community members and Dooley's staff/team members who honored Thom.

His Legacy will live on to the countless many that he has touched throughout the community. He was an inspirational leader to all, an example of how true humanistic management styles should be exhibited in the workplace, and a mentor to those who were fortunate enough to have been able to work or be coached under him throughout their lives.

Thom will be sorely missed, but may the leadership-by-example, his magnanimous generosity & praise he bestowed upon his team, and his desire to nurture others to be the "better person" in their lives, live on in the legacy that he leaves behind. It was an honor and a privilege to have been a part of Thom Murphy's original Dooley’s team/family and the culture he instilled.
