Rosemary T. Mackey

The funeral Mass for Rosemary Teresa Mackey will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Rev. Mark McNea officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2014 at Macken Funeral Home and also one prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Rosemary Mackey, 86, left her caring family on Tuesday, Dec. 9th, 2014 to be with the love of her life, Donald Mackey. She was a resident of Samaritan Bethany for the past four years.

Rosemary was born on Oct. 5th, 1928, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN, to Lawrence and Regina Forbes. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1946. On Aug. 20th, 1949, she was joined in holy matrimony to Donald C. Mackey at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester. Don and Rosemary were true stewards of the Catholic faith, and together they raised eight children and were blessed with thirteen grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Rosemary was employed at various companies throughout her life, C.O. Brown Agency, Drake’s Diner, Vending Services and the Star Tribune. In 1991 she retired as a Unit Secretary for the Mayo Clinic.

She enjoyed golfing, cooking, water skiing, playing bingo, cards and board games, trips to the casino with Don and truly enjoyed a good laugh.  She treasured time with her family and friends and was happiest attending sporting events of her children and grandchildren. Rosemary was a long-standing member of St. Francis Church where she served on many auxiliaries and was a volunteer Boy Scout leader.

Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Harold “Bud”, and her

husband Donald. She is survived by her loving children, Timothy (Elizabeth)

Mackey  of St. Cloud, MN, Jane (Patrick) Farrell of Maple Valley, WA, Patrick (Laurie) Mackey of Millville, MN, Gerald Mackey of Eagle River, AK, Colleen (David) Sawinski of Elgin, MN, James (Brenda) Mackey of Rochester, MN, Paul Mackey of Rochester, MN, Charles (Karen) Mackey of Robbinsdale, MN, thirteen grandchildren and a great-grandson.

The Mackey family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Samaritan Bethany for the wonderful care Rosemary received while residing there.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Rochester, MN.

I was sorry to hear of Rosie's passing but also excited for her to get to be with Don again.  I'm sorry I'm not able to attend the services, but I am just getting over a bout of pneumonia and still am not feeling the best.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  Love, Retta
