Ray A. Guhl

A memorial service for Ray Guhl will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Heidorn officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.  Burial will at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Guhl, 78 of Rochester, passed away peacefully at his home from a lengthy illness on Friday, April 4, 2014.

Ray was born on September 27, 1935 in Plainview to Raymond L. and Ruth A. (Hemshrot) Guhl.

He graduated from Rochester High School in 1953.  He married Judith Armit Erickson on November 11, 1977 in Watertown, SD.  Mrs. Guhl survives. He was a production engineer supervisor at Crenlo, Inc., for 43 years, retiring in 2000.

Ray was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving from November 1954 to August 1957.

He is survived by his wife, Judie; six children, Linda (Earl) Clark of Rochester, Laurie (Rodney) Whitmore of Eyota, Rickey Guhl of Rochester, Scott (Jodie) Guhl of Rochester, Lisa (John) Flood of Preston and Brian (Mary) Guhl of Naples, FL; one step-daughter, Angela Erickson of Northfield and one step-son, Will Erickson of Zumbro Falls; twelve grandchildren; Jennifer Saley, Chad Clark, Jefferson Whitmore, Kevin Whitmore, Scott Whitmore, Brad Guhl, Josh Guhl, Jade Guhl, Tanner Guhl, Dylan Sandborn, Austin Guhl and Colton Guhl and five great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Ray enjoyed camping, scootering, reading, model railroading, woodworking and playing with his kitties.

Sorry Roy and I can't come down for Ray's memorial service.  We will be thinking of you and your family.  I'm so glad I saw you on Friday morning.  Ray was so lucky to have you taking care of him at home during his last days.  We will make a donation to Paws and Claws in Ray's memory.  Much love, dear friend.
