Mildred H. Jorgenson

Mildred Helen Jorgenson was born June 5, 1925 to Ben and Catherine (Schroeder) Kipp in Marion Township, Olmsted County. Mildred passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in Rochester, Minnesota at the Rehabilitation and Living Center at The Homestead.

Mildred graduated and attended the Kahler School Nursing in Rochester. She worked for St. Marys many years and retired from the X-ray department at Mayo Clinic. She married Arnold T. Jorgenson on December 16, 1950. He died August 8, 2011. Shortly after Arnold’s death Mildred had a stroke which made her unable to live in their house. She moved into Homestead of Rochester Assisted Living. In the fall of 2015 she moved to Homestead’s Rehabilitation and Living Center due to another stroke. Our thanks goes to all the workers at Homestead in making Mildred’s days a little brighter and to Mayo Hospice for their care. God Bless you and your caring.

She was known for her cooking, sewing and volunteering. Several years she volunteered at Channel One and was awarded Rochester’s Ten Who Make a Difference in 2006. She and her husband Arnold traveled a lot and visited all 50 states.

Mildred is survived by Arnold’s family;  Carol Briggs of Oronoco; Norm (Sharon) Jorgenson of St. Paul; Elmer Jorgenson of Rock Dell and Junior (Donna) of Hayfield. Many loving cousins from Iowa who kept in contact.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Arnold and his brothers and sisters and in-laws. Melvina and Burton Fjerstad; Lucille and Harold Fjerstad; Palmer Jorgenson; Marian Jorgenson, Eddie Briggs, Niece Sharon Fjerstad-Larson and her daughter, Lisa.

Mildred was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church of Rochester. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 at Resurrection Catholic Church with Rev. Peter L. Schuster and Rev. Msgr.  Donald P. Schmitz officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rochester. Lunch will follow the service

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to donor’s choice.
