Margaret Mary Thompson

Margaret Thompson, age 96, of Rochester, died peacefully Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at St Mary’s Hospital.

Margaret Mary Thibault was born January 21, 1921 to Henry and Catherine (Bultman) Thibault in Faribault, MN and grew up and graduated from high school there. She moved to Austin, MN and met and married Tommy Thompson on February 27, 1943. Mr. Thompson passed away August 9, 2008.

The couple have resided in Rochester for the past 60 plus years. Margaret was a homemaker, member of St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and also was very active with Arc of Southeastern MN.  She was a fabulous cook, seamstress and loving and faithful follower of Christ. Her gardening talents were quite unbelievable. There is nothing this beautiful woman wouldn’t do for anyone in need. We will all miss her so much.

Margaret is survived by her children, Faline Gossman, Virginia (Dick) Craven, Timothy (Susan) Thompson, Mychelle (Jim) Maronde, Theresa Churchill, Melanie Thompson, and Vance Thompson.  She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren and her sister Lauretta Kaderlik of Oregon.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband and eight siblings.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Monday, February 6th at the Catholic Church of the Resurrection here in Rochester with the Rev Fr. Shawn Haremza. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Arc of Southeastern MN.
