Loras A. Bonin

The Funeral Service for Loras A. Bonin will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark McNea officiating.  Visitation will be 5:00pm – 8:00pm Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  Burial of ashes will be on the family plot in Ryan Iowa at a later date.

Loras, 60,  was born in Minneapolis on Thursday July 1, 1954.  On Friday January 16, 2015 he lost his battle with cancer.

The #1 song on the day Loras was born was “Little Things Mean A Lot”, by Kitty Kallen. In the too brief span of his life he did so much for so many, without regard for recognition or reward. He will be missed everyday by his friends and others whom he helped in a humble, Christ-like manner.

Loras graduated from Mayo High School in 1972. He served for four years as a US Navy Corpsman. He worked as a lab technician, carpenter, and truck driver. Loras loved camping, fishing, and attending Twins and Viking’s games.

He is survived by his mother Clara M. Bonin, much older sister Susanne (Tom) St. George and slightly older brother Mark Bonin, and his four step-children whom he loved dearly. He had many nieces and nephews and seven great-nieces and great-nephews who were loved beyond words.  He was the best brother in the world.

Loras was preceded in death by his father Art, his sister Mary Claire and his grandparents.

Condolences

The family of Loras A. Bonin has received the following condolences.

Rest in Peace Loras,   I've known Loras and all the Bonin's practically my whole life.

The first thing that came to my mind this morning when a friend called to tell me about Loras was "What a Nice Guy"

And he always was.

Our condolences to the Bonin family and anyone who has been lucky enough to have known Loras. He was always up for some fun and a good time. He will truely be missd by anyone who knew him.

Sorry that we are to far from home to be able to attend the services.

Don & Sue St George

First met Loras in 2nd grade at St Francis and maintained our friendship over all these years.   Loras was always pleasant to be around and he had a sense of humor - and a special  laugh - that I will never forget!

RIP Loras, and watch out for Father Jensen!

I had the privilege of working with Loras for a short time at Park Towers. He is one of those people that leave an imprint on your life just by being who he was.  There was a kindness and gentleness about him that one doesn't often see.  I find it a blessing when the Lord lets someone like Loras pass through my life.

I will keep you all in my prayers.

Gods Blessings on each and every one of you.

You were one of the most happy, good guys I've ever known. I never heard you utter a bad word about anyone and never made any judgement about anyone. When you found out you had terminal cancer, you didn't get angry or bitter you just resolved to make every moment count-and you lived it out to the fullest. Prayers to your family-it's hard to lose you and even harder for them. Hugs, Loras. I'll miss you.

Loras, I will never forget you.

sorry I can not be there, but I am traveling out of the country at this time. their were so many laughs and fun times to always be remembered and never forgotten, there was never a unforgettable moment when you were with Loras. rest in peace and look back at us with joy and fun time that were had
