Leonard L. Kach

Leonard Leland Kach, age 86 of Rochester, died of heart failure on February 20, 2017 at the Stewartville Care Center.

Leonard was born July 19, 1930 to Phillip and Esther (Hayes) Kach at Cresco, Iowa. He attended schools in Howard and Fillmore Counties. In his younger years, he grew up farming with horses and helping local neighbors out with baling and threshing.

On August 23, 1958, he married Lorraine Warnke at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Davis Corners, Iowa. It was the last wedding at that church before they took it down. Then he moved to Rochester where his wife was working at St. Marys Hospital. Right away, he went to work for Duane Sattre Landscaping. One of their first jobs was laying sod at the new courthouse on 2nd Street. In 1962, they moved back to Iowa to farm with his brother and father. In 1964, they returned to Rochester and worked for his brother-in-law, Don Friedrich, for over 26 years. They had an auction, and in 1990 he went to work for Anderson’s Formal wear for 15 years, retiring in 2005.

Leonard enjoyed country music, watching Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and wrestling. Also, his pride and joy was to keep his lawn mowed and snow plowed with his John Deere’s.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; one sister, Betty (Don) Friedrich of Rochester; and a number of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Esther Kach; an infant twin brother; a brother, LaVerne (Carol Jean); and a sister, Regina “Jeannie” (Kenneth) Heide; and Jeannie’s twin brother, Roger.

A special thanks to the Stewartville Care Center staff and Chaplain Heather Klasonof  Season’s Hospice.

Condolences

The family of Leonard L. Kach has received the following condolences.

I am very sorry for your loss. When we lose someone we love to death, we can find comfort from Jehovah God as well as from one another. 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 helps us see that we are able to comfort others because Jehovah God comforts us. I like to refer to John 5:28,29 for comfort it says ,"Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his (Jesus) voice and come out." That day will come really soon and we will welcome our loved ones back. Until that day comes may we look to the future resurrection hope, and continue to comfort one another. Thoughts and prayers with all of the family.  He will be greatly missed.
