Katherine A. Boudreau

Katherine Boudreau, 71, of Rochester, passed away at her home in the arms of her children on May 10, 2017.

Katherine Swenson was born July 21, 1945 in Bemidji, MN to Leonard and Virginia Swenson. She grew up in Rochester and was a graduate of Lourdes High School.

On April 30, 1966 Katherine married Pierre Boudreau at St. Johns Church in Rochester. They resided at their lake home in Oronoco where they raised their two children, Tammy and Bradley. In 1990, Pierre and Katherine moved to her beloved home in Rochester where she resided until her passing.

She received her nursing assistant degree from Rochester Community College in 1990. She worked in home health care for many years and then went on to employment at Mayo Clinic where she retired in 2007 after 15 years of service.

Katherine would often talk about her early years in Northern Minnesota where she and her cousin Pat would spend their summers. She enjoyed going to craft shows with her daughter, listening to her son’s travel adventures, attending her grandson’s sporting events, going to theatre plays and crossword puzzles. She had a love for animals and over the years had many pets, most recently Chloe and Jaxon who will miss her dearly. Above all, she loved her children and grandson Tyler.

Katherine is survived by her daughter, Tammy Childs, of Rochester; her son, Bradley Boudreau, of Grand Ronde, Oregon; her grandson, Tyler Childs; two sister-in-laws, Deneige Boudreau and Arlette Padden; and the Berg family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pierre Boudreau.

Katherine’s family would like to say a special thank you to Mayo Clinic doctors and care staff, Seasons Hospice, and all the friends and family who shared their love during her most recent journey with cancer.

At Katherine’s request, memorials can be referred to Paws and Claws Humane Society of Rochester, MN or the American Cancer Society.

Memorial service will be at 11:00am on Saturday, May 20, 2017 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Pastor Lance Lorenz. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester, MN.

Thank you so much to our wonderful mother. You were an amazing woman. So strong in so many ways with such a caring heart and beautiful smile. You will be missed dearly and are loved more than you could ever know. You will be in my heart always and until we meet again may you find peace in heaven. Watch over us until we meet again sweetheart. Love you. -TammyChilds

I wish to send my prayers and sympathy to Kathy's family and friends.  Kathy and I went to Lourdes together and I remember her well.  She always had a smile for everyone and always a kind word.  She will be so missed I know.  Many people loved her and her professionalism in the Nursing field was most appreciated.  God bless all of you.  May Kathy rest with the angels now, feeling no more pain, only peace with our dear Lord.
