Johnathan Lee Gustafson

Johnathan Lee Gustafson, age 56 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Season’s Hospice Home following a five-year battle with cancer.

John was born on July 29, 1958 in Rochester to Gordon and Estella (Davis) Gustafson. He attended Stewartville Public Schools, and graduated from Mayo High School in Rochester. On May 17, 1986, he married Leann Krueger in Rochester. Together they raised two children. He worked at Seneca Foods for over 30 years. John maintained a very strong Christian faith. He had a love for nature, which included stone-hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and bird watching. There are many fond memories of John spending time with his family at Sheshebe Resort at McGregor, MN and his grandmother’s farm near Stewartville.

He is survived by his wife Leann, his children, Nicole Gustafson and Felicia Gustafson both of Rochester, his mother Estella of Rochester, siblings Jeff (Sherry) of Rochester, Douglas of Preston, Linda (Ron) Jokimaki of Moose Lake, MN, James (Junell) of Stewartville, David (Jean) of Kasson and his step-mother Caroll Gustafson of Oronoco.
He is preceded in death by his father Gordon, his father-in-law Charles Krueger, and his grandparents.

A Memorial Service for John will be held 10:30AM on Saturday, May 16, 2015 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Pastor William Otte officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial of John’s ashes will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville, MN.

Memorials are preferred to the Rochester Salvation Army or the family.
