Howard L. Heins

Howard Heins passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Madonna Towers in Rochester. He and his wife, Marian, of 68 years farmed and owned Registered Holstein cattle.  He was born on March 27, 1927 near Pine Island. Howard served in the Army in 1945. He lived just North of Rochester for 37 years where you currently find Essex Park. They moved to a farm near Oronoco in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Marian; four children, Marie (Dennis) Brom, Dan (Rosemary) Heins, Tim Heins, and Carol (Pete) Pyfferoen. He has six grandchildren, Jennifer Hudson, Lisa Heins, Karyn Hemphill, Amy Heins, Tom Heins, and Jeff Heins. He also has six great-grandchildren, Shantell Heins, Tommy Heins, Katie Hudson, Hanna Hudson, Miles Hemphill, and Logan Hemphill. Howard was also survived by two sisters, Allene Henke and Corinne Liebenow.

After many years of farming, Howard enjoyed Sudoku and spent many hours riding his John Deere Lawnmower in the sunshine. He enjoyed telling stories and spending time with his family, cousins, neighbors, and many friends around the state.

His life will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 12:30PM with Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a visitation on Thursday evening in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home from 5PM to 8PM. Luncheon will be served after the service. Burial will be in Oronoco Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 92.

Condolences

The family of Howard L. Heins has received the following condolences.

Howard will be missed by family and friends. I remember the pride he took in his cattle, his farmstead and his family. Howard and Marion opened up their farm for youth dairy judging events. It was always fun to watch Howard and Marion cut a rug at the Holstein convention every year! We are saddened by your loss. Sincerely, Shari Frost Chamberlain

My prayers and sympathy to you Marian and to all of the family.

My condolences to you and your family, Marian. May God's love bring all of you peace.

My prayers are with your family.  The Heins family, led by Howard, were so kind and welcoming to my family when we moved to the area so many years ago. Howard always had an easy-going smile and a kind word. He was a hard worker, and loved his family and his cattle. What a wonderful life he lived! I am glad to have known all of you.

My favorite Heins family story is when Carol would tell about the evening after-chores dance lessons in the kitchen. There was an anniversary coming up and the kids all needed to learn to waltz. So they did! What a fun memory.

It was with great pleasure to have worked with  Howard  whole working for the Minnesota Holstein Assoc. Remember those days having coffee together. My condolences.

Marie
