Geraldine Avis Andrist

The funeral for Geraldine Avis Andrist (Thorpe) will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, with the Pastor Bill Culbertson officiating.  Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Geraldine Andrist , 74, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012 at her residence after being diagnosed three months ago with terminal cancer.

Geraldine was born September 4, 1938 in Rochester, Minnesota to Roy and Sylvia Thorpe.  On November 11, 1959 she married Willard Arnold Andrist in Olmsted County and were later divorced.

Geraldine worked in the Methodist Hospital at the Mayo Clinic as a Nurse Aid for 35 years, PEMSTAR for 5 years and 5 years as a home health aid at Hiawatha Home.

Survivors include her children; Sherry Lynn Kubat of Rochester, MN, Danny Joe Andrist (Lauri) of Rochester, MN, Cheryl Marie Luebbe of Rochester, MN, Traci Andrist Fitzgerald (Kevin) of Malden, MA and Shannon Kay Peterson (Cliff) of Stewartville, MN; siblings, Roy (Joanne) Thorpe of Boulder, CO, Dave (Helen) Thorpe of Rochester, MN and Dale (Judy) Thorpe of Zumbrota, MN; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Sylvia Thorpe.

Great enjoyment was always found with her 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  Geraldine’s hobbies included motorcycling, jet skiing, horseback riding, camping, playing cards and enjoyed doing her yard work.

Memorials are preferred to the Rochester Cancer Society and Seasons Hospice.
