George A. Lamb

George Albert Lamb, age 90, passed away due to Alzheimer’s disease on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Charter House in Rochester, Minnesota.  George was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on October 30, 1926 to Clarence W. and Mary G. (Lonergan) Lamb.

Discharged from the Navy in 1954, George began a thirty-year career with IBM Corporation.

Wooing Cecelia Stevens by serenading the words from the musical Carousel, “If I loved you, words wouldn’t come in an easy way” – he proposed and on July 6, 1955, they began sixty-one years of marriage.

George was a thespian, sailor, painter, skier, traveler and could tell a great story.

Preceded in death by his parents, brother Clarence, sisters Mary Margaret Lamb and Helen Ridley, he is survived by his wife, Cecelia, children, James (Lori), Mary Ellen Easley (Mike), Susan Laney (Bob), Kathleen Novotny (Dale), Jennifer Hazzard (John), fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Dear Kathleen, Dale, Becca, Rachel and Russell,

Our hearts are heavy for you and your family.  Over the years we have had the pleasure of meeting your Dad/Grandpa several times and often heard what a special man he was in so many ways.  Treasure those memories and the great stories he shared. Sent with love and prayers of comfort...Randy and Diane

It's hard to understand why people are taken from us, but find comfort in knowing you were a special part of a well-lived life.

I am very sorry for your loss. George was a very dear sweet man. He made this Southerner feel at home when visiting Mn. I will miss him.

Grandpa, I miss you already. I know you're in a better place. I'm jealous of the stories you're telling in heaven. Thank you for everything you taught me. I wish all children had you as a grandpa. Your joy and happiness make a world of difference in this world.

My dears,

Damn, I loved that George.

He was the very best.

I feel so lucky to have been on the earth at the

same time and to have loved him.

I am carrying you in my thoughts.

I am carrying you in my prayers.

I am carrying your hearts...in my heart.

With deep love and sympathy,

Og and I are so sorry to hear of cousin George's passing. He was such a funny dear person. He always had a joke to tell, and when og was first introduced to the family (and we know how daunting that can be) George was the one who was always ready to chat and smoothed the way for a long and treasured friendship. Ceil and George demonstrated to all of us what a good marriage looked like and I am happy to say we succeeded in creating the magic. Dancing at their 50th Anniversary was amazing and I am sure George is dancing right now with all who loved him. Our heart goes out to all the family. The world is a better place because of him.

love and prayers to you Ceil and all your beautiful family

Dear Kathleen, Dale and to your family,

We are very sorry for your loss of your Dad, and all the other hats he wore during his life....grandpa, uncle, friend. And many more. Our thoughts and prayers are with you!

Denise and Steve

Ceil, we want to express our sincere sympathy.  Getting to know you and George has been one of God's many gifts to us and we are grateful to know you.  Although you knew this day was coming, it doesn't lessen sadness you feel and the shock of finality.  George is truly going to be "home for Christmas".  Know that you are in our prayers.  Blessings, Kitty and Dick

We have had the honor of being friends of George and Ceil for over 60 years.  What a wonderful trip!  They are a wonderful couple and George was an   exceptional man with a marvelous sense of humor.

We will miss him and may he Rest In Peace.

Jim and Nancy Fyffe

May care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead. My most sincere condolences to this special family.

Condolences to Aunt Ceil and to your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Uncle George was a great guy, and he will be missed by many. One favorite memory I have of him is of going sailing on Lake Pepin, long, long ago. RIP George, your niece, Anne Stevens.

Kathleen & Dale - We are so sorry for your loss! Praying for God's peace for you and the entire family.
