Frances L. Krueger

Frances Lorraine Krueger, 95 of Marion, passed away peacefully surrounded by members of her family on October 27, 2014.

Frances Lorraine Bierman was born on November 6, 1918 in Brooten, MN to Claus and Gertrude Bierman. She liked to say her birth contributed to the signing of the peace treaty on November 11 which ended World War I.  Her family farmed in Wisconsin, Missouri, and then moved to the Dover/Eyota area where she attended high school. Following high school she married Ellsworth Krueger in 1936.  They farmed in the St Charles area until 1945 when the family moved to Rochester. Together, the couple had four children, later divorcing.

At age 28, Frances started working for the Olmsted County Medical Coroner, Dr. Theodore Wellner and worked  for over 12

years with him.  For ten years she cared for the mentally ill at the former Rochester State Hospital.  In 1970 she participated in developing the Chemical Dependency Unit at the State Hospital and continued working on that unit for 13 years until the State Hospital closed in 1982.  These positions were a perfect fit for her since she was a people-person.  She expressed the thought  “If I can keep one heart from breaking, I will not have lived in vain.”

She is survived by her three children, Robert “Bob” (Kirsten) Krueger of Grass Valley, CA, Judith “Judy” (Gary) Anderson of Rochester, Rickey “Rick” Krueger of Rochester, eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and her very special long-time friend, Stanley Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her parents,  two sisters (Lela and Lucille), a baby brother (Vylos Claus), her son, Bernie (2012) and her daughter-in-law Connie (2012).

A memorial service for Frances will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014, at 11:00 AM in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Eagles Cancer Telethon or Safe Haven Pet Rescue.

Condolences

The family of Frances L. Krueger has received the following condolences.

Rick,

I'm so sorry for your loss ... thinking of you and sending prayers to you and your family.

We express our condolences for the loss of your mother. You were all blessed by the amount of time she was here to spend with you and your families. I had only seen Aunt Frances a couple of times in the last 50 years.  I have very fond memories of driving to Rochester as a child with my Mom and Bonnie to visit her at the big white house that overlooked Soldiers Field.

Barb and Ernie Callahan

Sorry to hear about the loss of Frances.  It has been many years since I last talked to her.  Wished I was back in MN so I could go to the service.

I'm sorry for your loss Rick.

My deepest sympathy at the loss of your mother. The love and relationship between a mother and her children can not be replaced regardless of age, time, or distance.....God Bless

I'm sorry for your loss. Your family will be in my prayers.
