Eugene (Gene) J. Thesing

Eugene Joseph Thesing Lewiston, MN

Eugene (Gene) Joseph Thesing died June 16th,2024 at St. Marys Campus of Mayo, Rochester, MN.

Gene was the son of Anton and Lila (McCabe) Thesing. He was born in Utica Township, Winona County, on June 19, 1939. He married Judith Ann Langowski at St. Casmir’s Catholic Church in Winona on November 13, 1965. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 10 years and after moving five times in seven years he returned to his hometown of Lewiston, Minnesota and never moved again. He owned Lewiston Hardware for eleven years and then retired from Mills Fleet Farm after 18.5 years of service. Always “Helping good people make good business decisions.”

While in Lewiston he was President of the Lewiston Chamber of Commerce the year the Fools Five Race was introduced. He was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, served on Parish council, The Jaycees, Lewiston Lions and Sportsmen’s Club.

Gene served three years in the U.S. Army with a tour in Turkey and was honorably discharged after serving the balance of his inactive time in the U.S. Army Reserve at Winona.

Gene’s remains are being cremated and he will be interred at The New Veteran’s Memorial Field in Preston, MN.

Survivors are his wife (Judy), his three sons, Patrick (Sherri), George, Samuel (Jessica), and one daughter Jennifer (Julie), ten grandchildren, brothers Bernie (Susan), and Charles (Janis).

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2024 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 180 S Fremont St, Lewiston, MN. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the church with a luncheon to follow the service. Private interment after.
