Dorothy Mae Fogarty

The funeral for Dorothy Fogarty will be at 10:30am, Wednesday, July 9th, 2014 at St Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester, MN with the Rev. Harry Jewison officiating.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.  Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday, July 8th in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.

Dorothy, 89, of Rochester, MN died Saturday (July 5th, 2014) at Madonna Towers where she had resided for the last 4 months.

Dorothy Mae Cassidy was born April 14, 1925, in Rochester to Frank and Mayme Cassidy.  She graduated from Rochester High School in 1942, worked in Rochester at the Model Laundry and as a bookkeeper in Minneapolis for a short time.

On June 4th, 1949 she married Ralph Fogarty of Chatfield at St Francis Catholic Church in Rochester, MN.  The couple moved to the Fogarty farm in Pleasant Grove, MN, later to a farm in Oronoco, MN, and finally moved back to Rochester in 1961. Dorothy worked for over 25 years at Rochester Public Utilties as a bookkeeper.

Survivors include 2 sons, Dan (Theresa) Fogarty of Mazeppa, Mn, and Kevin (Ann Kellogg) Fogarty of Rochester; her daughter Maureen (Mo) Bahr (Dave) of Rochester; 6 grandchildren:  Jeff Fogarty (Machaella); Christine Fogarty (Greg Kelm); Max Bahr (Kelley); Molly Bahr; Nick Fogarty (Marcy); Melissa Fogarty (Brian Mensink)7 great grandchildren:  Sara, Sydney, Heather, Shannon, and Taylor Fogarty; Mia and Stevie Bahr and brother Gene Cassidy of Rochester, MN and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; daughter Mary Kay Fogarty, and sister Evelyn Kearney.

Dorothy loved playing cards, camping with her grandchildren, traveling all over the US during retirement, wintering in Southern Texas, music, playing piano, and just enjoying life with family and friends.
Memorials are preferred to Seasons Hospice, Madonna Towers, or the charity of your choice.

So sorry to hear of Dorothy passing, she truly was like a second mother to me.  Many fond memories of the Fogarty family, particularly of both "Dort  & Ralph" which always brings a smile to my face.  Regrettably, I can't be there for the service but will be in town later in the month and hope to see you then.
