Cornelius “Neil” Mahoney

Cornelius John “Neil” Mahoney, age 87 of Rochester, passed away peacefully at Cottagewood Senior Living on Thursday, February 19, 2015.

Neil was born on August 20, 1927 in Rochester to Frank and Brigid (Cronin) Mahoney. He was a graduate of Lourdes High School. Following high school, he attended Stout School of Manual Training in Menomonie, WI. In 1966, Neil started a career with Mayo Clinic as a draftsman in Facilities Engineering. In July 1955 he married JoAnn Vale in Rochester. Together, they raised five children. Neil was a “jack of all trades”, who had many passions including farming, stone masonry, carpentry, and family history.
Survivors include his wife of over 59 years, his five children, Theresa (John) Busch of Tempe, AZ, Bridget Mahoney of Missoula, MT, Patrick Mahoney of Minneapolis, Dan Mahoney of Rochester, Dennis (Laurie) Mahoney of River Falls, WI, brothers Jerry (Patty) Mahoney of Rochester, John “Jack” (Neva) Mahoney of Columbus, OH, four grandchildren Matthew Busch, Sarah Busch, Sean Busch, and Chi Crowther.
Neil is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
A Memorial Service for Neil will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 10:30AM in the Original Macken Funeral Home Chapel (Located directly off Hwy 14 East). Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial of his ashes will be in Calvary Cemetery Rochester.

I never new Neil but did know his mom Bridge and his brother Jerry. Neils aunt Mary Cronin was my dads secretary for nearly 50 years. Prayers to all.
