Constance “Connie” Irene (Gray) Stevermer – Rochester
Constance “Connie” Irene Stevermer, 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Saint Marys Campus.
Constance Irene Gray was born March 8, 1926 at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester to Theodore and Irene (Mattson) Gray. Connie graduated from Rochester High School in 1944.
Connie worked for fifteen years as secretary in the Olmsted County Extension Agent’s Office until her marriage in 1958 to Gene W. Stevermer of Easton, Minn. Following Mr. Stevermer’s death in 1961, Connie worked for twenty-two years in the Communications Department of Mayo Clinic until her retirement. She then enjoyed many years working in the Fair Office at the Olmsted County Fair. Connie volunteered with Mayo Clinic Volunteer Services for sixteen years and was active in several areas. Connie was a parishioner of the Church of St. John the Evangelist for fifty-four years.
Connie is survived by two daughters, Mona Stevermer of Rochester and Jean (Darrell) Kundert of Bozeman, Mont.; grandsons Scott Kundert of New York City and Kyle Kundert of Bozeman and nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant sister, and a sister Geraldine Oscarson.
Connie’s passions included world travel, trips to Montana, reading, flowers, spending time with family, and watching Minnesota sports teams. Connie was loved for her humor and exuberant spirit. The family is grateful to Connie’s many friends and caregivers at Charter House and Mayo Clinic.
The funeral mass will be held 10:00am, Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, with Msgr. Rev. Gerald Mahon officiating. Condolences

The family of Constance “Connie” Irene (Gray) Stevermer has received the following condolences.

Mona--We are so sorry to learn of your mom's passing earlier this month.  How fortunate that you were able to spend your days together in the past year!  Please accept our condolences and know that our thoughts are with you and the rest of your family.

Dear Family: Deepest sympathy to the family on the death of Connie Stevermer. I was privileged to work with one of Ms. Stevermer's daughters, Mona Stevermer, for nearly 20 years and was keenly aware of her deep commitment and abiding love for her mom. I'm so pleased that Mona was able to spend quality time with her mom -- even though we missed her greatly at Mayo Clinic Libraries when she retired. -- J. Michael Homan, Mayo Clinic Director of Libraries Emeritus

Dear Mona and Jeanne

I am so saddened to know that Connie has left us but the bright light she brought to our lives and the lives of many others will never be gone. I recall visits to our South Ridge farm and her humor, her warmth and her intrepid spirit. She was beloved by my Mom and Dad and I take comfort in the certainty that she is now united with them and your father.

Love to you both,

Patty

Mona and Jean,

Mona and family:

Connie was so proud of her family and loved all of you very much.  We sometimes would chat as she was volunteering at the information desk at Mayo.  She would always greet me with a "hey kid" did I tell you...

I know the past few years have been difficult for her family and yet your strength and support never wavered.

Keep your lifetime of wonderful memories near in the next few days and know she is at peace.

**I am in Florida so won't see you at the service but will be sending you prayers

Dear Mona and Jean, Darrell and Scott and Kyle, I am so sorry for your loss.

I remember Mrs. Stevermer well - I last saw her mischievous smile shining through in photos of her trip to Africa. May the Lord bring comfort to you all. Much love, Cathy Friederichs

Thank you Connie for letting me part of your family and all the memories you made for us. You were a great Mother, Mother-in-law, Grand Mother and friend. My you Rest In Peace, your Loving son-in-law, Darrell.

Dear Mona and Jean - I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing.  She was always so sweet and loving to the Callahan girls.  Her generosity was so natural....I always felt like another daughter in her home.  Thank you for sharing your beautiful Mom with us.
