Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Visitation will be held from 9:00am to 10:00am for the family and 10:00am to 11:00am for friends of the family.

Mr. Peters, 83, of Moose Lake (Hayward) WI, formerly of Byron, MN, died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at his home. Charles (Chuck) was born June 24, 1933 in Detroit, MI to Hamilton A. Peters and Ruth E. (Gerds) Peters. Charles married Dorothy Jean Measel in South Bend, IN on January 4, 1955 and they lived together in Utica, MI, and then Byron, MN until Dorothy’s passing on September 4, 1987. Charles then married Carol Whitney in Rochester, MN on November 26, 1988 and they resided in Byron, MN, and then their current residence in Moose Lake, WI.

Charles had a zest for life.  He worked at IBM for more than 30 years. After retiring from IBM, he opened Byron Lanes in Byron, MN, finally retiring to Moose Lake, WI in 2011. While employed at IBM, Charles farmed 120 acres, was active in many sports, was a musician and a private pilot. He was a US Army veteran and served in Germany for three years.

He loved his family and will live forever in their hearts. Until we meet again, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, God rest your soul.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Peters of Moose Lake, WI; two sons, Steve (Patti) Peters of Lakeville, MN, and Tim (Paula) Peters of Rochester, MN; brother, Richard (Zita) Peters of Detroit, MI; stepdaughter, Leslie (Larry) Rosenstock; stepson, Matthew Whitney; grandchildren, Chris Tompkins, Christie (Jeff) Will, Ashley (Lucas) Bakken, Nick, Rob, Dan, Brett and Danielle Peters, Ben and Declan Rosenstock; and great-grandchildren, Annalyse Tompkins, and Emmy and Parker Will. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; daughter, Lynn; and brother, Larry.

Memorials are suggested to Feeding America and St. Jude’s Hospital.

Condolences

The family of Charles Henry Peters has received the following condolences.

Our hearts go out to you, Carol and all your family.  We had hoped to drive down for the funeral but find we are not up to a road trip.  God will comfort you at this time and you will be our thoughts and prayers.  We look forward to seeing you at Moose Lake soon.  Love from us

Paula and Tim, In this tough time in your life, sympathy and heartfelt condolences for you and the family.  Take Care.

The loss of a loved one is a very sad and heavy load to bare. May you find comfort at Acts 24:15 "And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous." Please accept my deepest sympathy.

My deepest condolences to all - such a shock so soon after Lynn's passing. Carol - I can't imagine your loss. I am holding you close in my heart and praying for your courage and strength in this time of sorrow. Love, Teri

Tim and Paula,

My deepest sympathies, please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
