Adam John Ellingson

Adam John Ellingson, 20, died unexpectedly due to gastroenteritis complicated by respiratory arrest on January 31, 2017 in Mankato, Minnesota.

Adam was born October 29, 1996 to David and Stacy Ellingson as the youngest of three children and graduated from Lourdes High School in 2015. He grew up with an undeniable competitive spirit, taking to sports at the young age of two and culminating with seven varsity letters in baseball and football along with a state championship on the 2014 Lourdes High School football team. He continued to thrive on the baseball team at Minnesota State University where he converted from a catcher to a pitcher.

He enjoyed and excelled in mathematics and had his sights set on completing a degree in actuarial science. He had hoped to work in sports analytics if his baseball career did not take him beyond college sports.

In his spare time, Adam enjoyed reading up on conspiracy theories, watching the movies instead of reading the books, and playing his friends in FIFA or Fantasy Football. He did not believe, though, in making his bed or cleaning his room.

Adam is survived by his parents, David and Stacy; sister, Katie Ellingson of Chicago, IL; brother, Andrew Ellingson of Rochester; grandparents; John and Millie Ellingson of Rochester, Jerry and Andrea Throndset of Lakefield, MN; aunts and uncles, Michelle (Ted) Bos of Carol Stream, IL, Chad (Karen) Throndset of St. Michael, MN, Mark (Janna) Ellingson of Rochester, Sasha (Todd) Koenig of Milaca, MN, and Dan Ellingson of Rochester; and cousins, Ted, Nick and Dan Bos, Nolan Throndset, Nora, Michael, William and James Ellingson, and Shaylee and Tahlia Koenig.

Adam was dearly loved by his big brother and sister who will miss him every day. He will be remembered by countless family and friends who loved his quick smile and laugh.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-5:00PM with an hour of remembrance from 4:00-5:00PM on Sunday, February 5, 2017 in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, February 6th at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester with Rev. Charlie Collins officiating and Rev. Thomas Loomis co-officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hiawatha Homes Foundation at https://hiawathahomes.org/make-a-gift-form/, Rochester Catholic Schools at https://tinyurl.com/rcsmnEllingsonDonation, St. Pius Catholic Church, and the Minnesota State University Mankato baseball program.

Condolences

The family of Adam John Ellingson has received the following condolences.

I am so sorry to read about your loss, it is always difficult to lose a loved one, but it is especially tragic to lose them at such a young age. I never had the privilege of meeting Adam, but it sounds like he was a wonderful young man and I am sure he has left many wonderful memories for you to look back on. Please take comfort in knowing that death is only a temporary part of life. (John 5:28,29) Although your time with Adam was far too short, you can have the hope of being reunited with him forever, under perfect circumstances. (Revelation 21:4) In the meantime, even though the pain may at times seem insurmountable, rest assured that God will give you the strength necessary to endure. (Psalm 94:17-19) Please accept my deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences.

I have known Adam's mom since she was in the fourth grade and although I didn't know Adam, Andrew or Katie well, I knew family and faith were very important to Stacy and the Throndset family. May faith and family gather to embrace them now. May the memories that may seem painful now, eventually bring peace and joy to them in the days that follow. In our youth, Stacy's family was like my own and years and circumstances has caused us to lose track. I'm am sad that I can't step forward in this difficult time and offer my help unconditionally. Please, if you need anything as a family that I can assist with, don't hesitate to ask. Although, I have watched from a distance for many years, I have watched and care a great deal for the Ellingson family. My heart breaks that they have had to deal with this loss so soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Love to you all,

James Douglass

Our hearts are breaking, and words are useless except for the three most important ones... I love you. Adam is loved by so many, and so is his entire family. Dave and Stacy, what great parents you are! The happy memories that we are reliving. Baseball and football and watching those boys show us all what real friendship is. Katie, Andrew, grandparents, and all the rest... our hearts are with you. We share your path.

Our first memories are of baseball. Dave, it was a couple of years before we even saw you without a baseball cap. You were Joe's coach and Adam was our ace on the mound. It is tough when your dad is the coach, because you want so much to make him proud. Well, we were witnesses. Adam made you proud, Dave. He made Stacy proud, his #1 fan in the stands. He made us all proud. We remember that one special long interception during that brilliant senior championship football season. Funny how certain of the NE Rochester parents would discuss who would get the interception next week. Great times with great people and the great kids who brought us together.

From the very first at-bat to the very last hug on that day at Hy-Vee, what is not to love about this kid? The flame of friendship that Adam's friends share, that we parents share, has flickered slightly with the falling of our tears, but it will burn brighter than ever as we keep Adam in our hearts. Together.

Sending thoughts and prayers to the Ellingson family during this difficult time. We know Adam was very loved. We are deeply sorry for your loss.

Although we never met Adam or his family, we do know what a wonderful young man he was.  Our very dear friends, Kanyon Fellers and his family, have shared his story with us and the heartbreak of his loss.  We pray that you are comforted by the hope we have in Christ of a blessed reunion in Heaven.  Our deepest sympathy to you and all of his family and friends.

Stacy and Family, I am so sorry for your loss.  You're in my thoughts and prayers.

We remain devastated at Adam's unthinkable loss and send love, prayers and support to your entire family.  He was Kanyon's best buddy, his roomate and baseball teammate. In the "Field of Dreams" in Heaven, may Adam always throw strikes and listen to pretty girls sing.

Our Love-

Kanyon, Chris, Kerry Lea and Kendall Lea Fellers

Dear Ellingson family,

We wanted to take a moment to tell you how deeply sorry we are about the death of your beautiful son, Adam. We know the pain of losing a child only too well as we lost our daughter, Kali, almost 20 years ago when she was just 14. Her birthday is actually tomorrow, the 3rd. She would have been 34. We continue to miss her every single day. Please know that we are holding you close in our hearts even though we have never met. We hope you are finding strength, love and support from everyone that knows you and knew and loved Adam. Take care of yourselves and each other during the journey you are on, it is a long and difficult one, but we sincerely hope that you will find peace again and comfort in your loving memories of your son.

Sincerely,

Monte ande Vicki Viker
